Just an out of interest question rather than anything else.
My understanding of the game is that every single plane is a different entity in the database and that allows them to each have their own history as they do and decides when they come into existence and confirms them as scrapped.
So what happens to planes in the build queues when the airline that orders them goes bankrupt? Do they get finished and then passed onto the AI leasing companies or do they never exist? Does the plane only exist according to the database once it is delivered to a player?

I think these aircraft disappear, unfortunately. I would love to see these aircraft which are halfway through production to be continued as a white tail aircraft and taken on from a lessor to be put on the used market.
I've occasionally leased aircraft that were just one or two months old and from the leasing companies, not from other players and I've always assumed that these are the 'white tails' the OPs talks of. Since the leasing companies don't order directly, where else would these have come from? I suppose a company could have gone bankrupt just after receiving a brand new a/c. Next time I see one I'll look how many hours/landings it has.

I would guess that these are probably planes for airlines which couldn't afford the new plane and ended up BKing.
and do all the A/B/C/D checks carry over after a company goes bankrupt and goes back into the used queue?
Has anyone ever discussed the possibility of being able to see the ownership history of each aircraft? I think this would be a neat feature.

Yes. But the AI brokers will perform maintenances on them if they are due shortly.

Yes, I saw it not long ago. I thought Sami was working on it, but i'm not sure.

It'd be easier to track this if each aircraft was given a proper line number/production slot number. Right now I think each one as a unique number (visible only in the "Change Registration and Name" screen) but these seems to be sequential and regardless of type/manufacturer. I'm guessing this number is the database key for the aircraft table. With proper line numbers one could keep better track - especially of where the white-tails go. I'd also be interested in who picks up the a/c I dump... Might help improve startegy.
And with line numbers we could do virtual plane spotting (JOKING!)

I have leased an aircraft from a broker before with no flight hours/landings etc. However, I suppose if it had belonged to a BK'd airline it could have been delivered but never scheduled.

Sami once asked for help to get more information about the serial/construction numbers of airliners, e.g. 11242 till 11625 for Fokker 100 or something, so Sami could work it out further. No news about it since, I'm waiting for the new version before I ask it.
