Title: Staff Morale question
Post by: Sanabas on January 19, 2011, 08:01:24 AM
I am getting rid of my F27s, and replacing them with 727s. Once I remove the last one, I'm going to have ~80 medium A/C pilots with nothing to do. If I fire them, am I going to take a big morale hit across all staff, or will the morale only drop for the medium pilots?

There's no retrain possibility at the moment, so you'll just have fire & hire.

Yeah, figured that. But it might be worth just paying them to do nothing until I can open a new base. I know there's a morale hit for firing people, I just want to know if it's company-wide, or just applies to the particular class I'm firing. I'd prefer to find out here rather than testing it myself.

It will be limited to the sacked employee class, and if you eliminate it entirely, there is no morale problem.   ;D

However, when you sack employees, you take a ci hit, which really sucks if you are over 90 because it takes such a long time to get back to where you were

I'm going to be faced with about 300 extra employees pretty soon in my JA game.

Considering that's about 60% of my pilot force, that's quite a bit (amazing the difference in pilot requirements between a Convair 880 and BAC-111, despite both having a crew of 2).  I'm just going to trickle them out and see how bad it goes. Got nothing else I can do with 'em as I don't plan on ever flying Large a/c again.
