Ok, the 727-200 was just launched in JA3. I have 727-100's on order through mid '71. Even though the -200 will be available for delivery in Jan 69, I can not convert existing 727 orders for -100's to -200's. Is this a bug or is it designed this way? I know I have swapped orders for different types in the same fleet group in the past....IF it is designed this way, not sure why? I had the option of ordering planes or not having production slots, not sure why that should keep me from upgrading to a larger model in the same fleet group.

My understanding isthat what you describe is working as designed. Unlike the real world, you have the benefit of knowing what planes are going to be improved upon whereas an arline in the real jet age wouldn't know to stockpile delivery slots for an unannounced variant.

I think it depends on the date the original order was placed. If at the time your order was placed the model you want to change to was available, then you can change to the newer model, otherwise, you can't.
Guess that makes sense, but even though we know what is coming, there is still the +/- 18 month variable. Well, still have the 721's coming, guess I will wait for the 722 Advanced before I order any more....
Thanks Guys!
