Title: increse profits
Post by: albinobedbug on November 18, 2010, 04:19:31 PM
Hey all

What would be the best way to increase profits with just 60% average loads? I'm ready to make the green!!!

Thanks,
-J

It depends on whether you have competition or not. And make sure you've got enough demand on the route.
Also check your aircraft condition, you will want it to be above 75%.

- Have patience! Load factors will rise over time.
- Increase frequency (if not filled already)
- Lower your prices (ONLY in case of competition)
- Start a route specific marketing campaign (ONLY in case of competition)
- Get new & faster aircraft (ONLY in case of competition with faster aircraft, a few knots more or less won't matter)
- Install premium seating

The last one should be used as last option, if you really have no choice anymore and are desperate. It will increase CI and LF, but decrease profits.

Take a look at your average revenues per seat kilometer, every aircraft tends to have a specific range, where it's most profitable to use.

Thanks for the tips guys but lemme throw a curve ball on you,

I have a CI of 80 and a fleet of 14 with a minor issue of commonality and custom seating configurations which for the most part use a higher quality seat to attract the tushies and their wallets, a route of mine with high demand is flooded by a persistent opponent which reduces the load factor drastically, would lowering prices even more than i already have help me out any and anymore tips with the extra bit of info would be helpful.

Thanks again,

Frequency of flights is the most important.
Then come CI and RI.
Seating quality and pricing are a double edge sword.  You may get higher LF, but less revenue.

You could try to reduce the capacity and add more frequencies to your route. Sometimes it works  :D

Good luck

I believe all of my routes are full from my own flights, would it make sense to add more flights in fear of taking away from my own flights at other times?

You can pluck out some more demand up to about ~150% of what is shown but I don't see the need if there are other routes with unfilled demand.

Don't forget to reset prices as well to standard default every real day or so. Frequency is the issue as pax tend to prefer smaller planes to larger aircrafts. On short and medium hauls, I would recommend to work with standard seating in all classes, on longer hauls it may be worth a thought to consider premium seating. Also take  a look at your lease prices, as the used market is being dumped out as soon as new aircrafts appear, people tend to pay lease prices much higher than the plane's value would derive, hence you may fly routes and have slots, but it costs profits.
