Title: Next scenario starts this Sunday, 14th November
Post by: Sami on November 12, 2010, 08:56:09 PM
Like previously planned the third large & full game world at AirwaySim starts soon. The estimated launch time for this game world is this Sunday, 14th November, at approximately 18 UTC.

This game world will include a timespan covering the 1980s, 1990s and start of 2000s. With this third world the available game worlds include the three major time periods, early (1960+), near past (1980+) and modern (2000+).

He says, that when this world is added, AWS has three major time periods. 1960s aka Jet Age 3, 1980s aka the upcoming one and 2000+, aka Modern Times 3.

How are the passenger counts at the 80's? More close to JA3 or MT3?

No.
Version 1.3 is far from being ready (I don't think Sami even knows what all he will implement in 1.3).

Why should? Now there are (after start of the new one) game worlds from every era..

B764 comes 2001(+/-; launch is 1998 [also +/-]), so I guess not in here....
B747 classics (100-300) will be also there (maybe only used, but definitely there!)
B727 might have some rests on used market...

If we are all lucky, there might also be some Concords left :) I love these birds... ;D

No, there has been 17,000 members.  Not presently are.  Over the course of several years many people come and go.

I'm quite certain that sami knows precisely how many currently paying players he's got.  And he's not in the business of turning paying customers away.  But if he wants to be due to resource constraints, that's his business.  Remember, every game-world created means more time that sami has to do deal with managing each world dealing with PMs, complaints, bug issues, etc; and less time upgrading the game.  And as someone waiting for long-awaited updates to AWS, I, for one, would prefer he spends more time working on the software and less time managing the individual worlds.

Yes, partly agree with the previous poster on the time usage. Dealing with active game worlds does take the majority of my time and development time hasn't been that big lately..

The 17k membercount is not the number of players. Big share of those have never even tried the demo, and big majority of those who have tried the demo have only played it for some minutes and found this is not their thing. With present efforts the 1000-1500 active airlines (not players) seems to be the steady number.
