Title: The Concorde
Post by: Ilyushin on September 29, 2010, 03:17:28 PM
I see there's a Concorde on the used market right now.

I was wondering if it is even possible to make a profit with it in this game.
It is a real gas guzzler, worse than the Ruskis. It carries only 108 pax.
Do the passengers in AirwaySim care enough about speed to pay for an expensive Concorde flight?

No.  And the fleet commonality costs are terrible.  Don't even go there.

Alright, I guessed so. It has apparently been sold already.

The Concorde will bankrupt you.

I asked for a feature awhile back that will allow you to have 1-3 a/c that are a part of your landmark fleet.  It is just not fair that this beauty can simply not be used effectively.

First off, I have no idea how you could fly one in an all Y setting and make a profit.  The sim was changed due to the Magic Carpet rule so that you can not effectively put all F/C seating on your LH planes.

For instance, if your price is $500 and a non concorde is also $500 for the same flight, 100% of those customers should fly it.  That's just not the case here.

You can but CI must be high enough. (over 60 or 70 at least?)

Fix concerned only startup tactic of using full C/F planes

So there's really no method to fly the Concorde (and/or Tu-144) with a profit? Shame...

only if fuel is really cheap.

The only purpose of the concorde when fuel price went to a spike in the 70s and beyond was marketing. And in AWS the object marketing or wow-factor is not modeled.
So if you have a big and gross route and you have an A380, people won't mind travelling on it or in an old 762.

I know this isn't the features request forum so we will just call this brainstorming and not a full request, but after reading this thread I couldn't resist suggesting a passive CI or RI boost from having a Concorde in a fleet AND scheduled.

Would give some justification for those of us who really want to have one of these flying but can't push ourselves to intentionally make a bad business decision.  ;D

I have one on order, purely for the kudos of having it, although I will be use putting used £££ in te fuel tanks and burning them instead of fuel as its more effective!
