Title: Route Clobbering
Post by: sonicsupervibe on September 28, 2010, 07:08:16 PM
Just a quick question, perhaps I need to research this a bit.  How can a competitor get away with "route clobbering"?  In other words, I am finding that some airlines will have 6-7 routes, between MIA-ORD, using 757s, all departing at the same time, say 5:40am.  How is it possible to have good load factors when you are offering 1200-1400 seats at an odd time of the morning?  Is this a nuance of the game?  I try to counter program, by offering flights departing at 7am, then 9am, then 11am, hoping to make a sizeable dent in their marketshare.  Has anyone else encountered this?

The demand is still only daily, not hourly in the sim (with the exception for heavy penalties for dep/arr in the middle of the night, ie. 24-05).

So in other words he has been just lazy to make alterations to the schedule but so far (I mean in this version of the game) it has no adverse effects to his pax counts.

Sonic, that's a small problem that many have discussed but with the current system.  Pax demand is daily as Sami said.

There's simply some stuff that will have to stay the same for the sim to work effectively.

I can't tell you how many flights I have at 2255 and at 0500 going to the same place.

There is only so much that Sami can do.  More fine grained demand (hourly) could be a nice addition, but IMO, connecting flights should be the highest priority big item (programming wise).
