What are the gains in joining an alliance ? ::)
There is no instant massive financial or passenger benefit, but if you are in an active and helpful one you can co-ordinate on routes and assist against competition. Also, if the alliance is full at 25, you do not have to worry about 24 other airlines in the game competiting with you. This can then provide extra profits etc. In a full 500 player world, removing 5% of the competition can really help.
The main benefit is the social aspect and the exchange of information. Advice is easier to gain and for me personally the alliance forum adds a nice friendly element to the worlds and makes it much more enjoyable :)
It will help to your CI. But main advance is cooperation with other alliance members, sharing information, coordinaton of routes, etc.
For an example, one of my alliance members recently helped me get out of a debt, without his help, I'd be bankrupt now. I think paying 400k a week out of my 60M revenue isn't a big deal in that sense.
