I fly a route 6 out of 7 days a week. Recently a competitor added only one flight on a day I already fly the route which is annoying to say the least. I decided to move my flight on Friday to Saturday to avoid a drop in revenue. Unfortunately, when I attempt to make this change the game will not let me because it claims that there are no available slots on Sunday. This is extremely confusing as I already possess one slot for Sunday at the exact time on the current schedule. The only slot I technically need to add is on Saturday which IS available (giving back a slot on Friday). Could this be due to the fact that the flight is a redeye? Wouldn't think it would make any difference. Could it be a bug? Thanks.
Okay nevermind... It is because the second flight leaves on the next day for the route. :-[
I am just unlucky enough to need the one slot that isn't available. On a side note, I have noticed that an airline flying a route will fly, lets say, 123-567 with an aircraft that nearly matches the demand for that route. They will then have another separate flight that instead of leaving on day 4, also leaves on say day 3 or day 5. I routinely see this from several different airlines and it makes me scratch my head how so many could make the same mistake. It doesn't make any sense to me. Maybe it is part of their strategy?
This happens often and if you don't klick through your schedule every two or three days, you will never notices this. :)
It mostly happened (to me) when I have an 1-3-5 or 2-4-6 schedule and add a flight to --6- or ---7 ... this is why I now use extra aircraft to fill up these seventh day on routes >7000nm.
Maybe sami could add the AWS world has only six or eight days, this would make things far easier ;D
Haha, don't worry... happened to me yesterday, too! ;D
It also happens to me sometimes if I fly one a/c 12345_7, doing maintenance on 6, and squeezing day 6 into another a/c's schedule, usually just before midnight, thus it happens that the return flight is after midnight and I suddenly have two flights on 7 for the return trip.

And exactly this return flight on the wrong day only can avoided by two strategys;
- 7-day-schedule
- extra aircraft to fill up these days (easier way)
Yea, I noticed in Euro Challenge Curse that you create a route for each day for the majority if not all your routes. Figured it was because of maintenance and maybe so you could view load factors by day? For the most part is it six days on six planes with a seventh plane flying the 7 maintenance days? I noticed several other airlines schedules look similar so I wondered how this contributes to strategy. Thanks!
No, in Euro Challenge I use a seven day schedule. This was easy because the delivery times were fast.
Here are two screenshots for this:
Always seven aircraft are "one flightplan", so in this picture they are EC-AAA to EC-AAG and EC-AAH to EC-AAN.

This is another 7-day-schedule from EC2 with Fokker50 aircraft.

And this are 1-3-5-- and -2-4-6- with the "fill up" schedule from Air Travel Boom:
All three aircraft are Boeing 747-400ER, N093AA and N09AB are serving normal routes and N099AA flies all different routes, the seventh day. (schedule isn't final, so please ignore the bid white fields)
