There is a new addition to AirwaySim in development - Facebook integration.
In other words you can allow AWS game engine to post periodical status updates to your Facebook wall automatically. These are for example when you found a new airline, go bankrupt, buy a new plane, or then yearly or half-yearly financial and statistical updates of your airline.
Mainly just to show others that you are playing AirwaySim and have your own airline. ;D
To make all this magic work a Facebook application called AirwaySim Connectivity Application has been created. You need to add this application to your Facebook profile and also allow it to automatically post updates to your wall when you are not logged in to Facebook (ie. "offline access").
You can do this all with just 2-4 clicks from My Account page: https://www.airwaysim.com/Profile
I've also put up pictures of the process to the manual, here: https://www.airwaysim.com/game/Manual/Others/Facebook/
This feature is experimental and in development.
So far it does NOT yet post ANY data to your Facebook wall, this is still being developed. For now you can only link the AWS and Facebook accounts from My Account page, for future usage. Later on you can also select individually from game world settings if data is posted for that airline or not.
I published this now because I'd like some additional hands on testing how the application / connectivity adding / removing works etc. Further (= actual) implementation is expected after some days (depending how long this friggin' ash cloud is over Europe and I'm out of job...).
Comments?
ps. about privacy - only data what Facebook transmits to us is the Facebook user id (=series of numbers) and so called session id (= series of numbers/letters). AWS does not receive, or request, any of your personal data, not even your name (it's just visible on that page but that comes directly from FB server). AWS airline access application does not also read any data, it will (eventually) only post to your wall.
ps. #2 .. please report any problems in this thread. Suggestions also.
ps. #3.. manual page will be updated later on this matter.
edit: does not seem to work if you are logged in at Facebook already, when trying to add this from My Account page. Sorting it.
Adding the app. works now... feel free to test.
All looks good here now :)
Just testing for fun... it seems to be REALLY easy to integrate AWS into Facebook like this, so that AWS would be a separate FB application.
But of course this was not what I was doing originally, just testing. ;)

FYI - the app is now hidden, as first proof of concept is done. More later, ... perhaps. :)
Quick question, if you were to release an AWS app, would I be able to have a Facebook AWS App open as well as AWS it self. Also what about multiple Facebook AWS apps open, I find I need at least four tabs open to use AWS.
That pic is basically just AWS inside Facebook frame, so having multiple windows open wouldn't be a problem I guess.
It not seeming to work for me. When i go on "my accounts page" there isnt a option to add it.
it is offline presently.
