Title: Changing slot use
Post by: jamestbailey on April 17, 2010, 01:41:54 PM
Say you have an 8am slot at LHR which you are using for a shorthaul flight. You decide you want to use it for a longhaul flight instead. Assume no available slots left at LHR. Can you transfer its use within your airline without returning it to the market for the 4 minutes it takes you to set up your new route (and pay a huge amount for the slot again!).

Thanks,
Jimbo

When you cancel your flight, a box pops up like below.  Remove the tick and you keep your slot :)

In V.1.1, There is a "Do not release slot to the public" check box that appears when you close the route.  I'm not sure if you can use different aircraft categories (i.e small-medium, medium-extra large) than the slot was already meant for.

That's the point. It depends on the size of the a/c if that slot will suffice for the new route.

A/c size is irrelevant. Slot is a slot, no matter if it's used by a Piper Chieftain or a B747. ( https://www.airwaysim.com/game/Manual/Routes/Slots/ )

Anyway, to topic starter, just follow Daveos' advice.
