Title: Airline Names
Post by: raptorva on April 13, 2010, 11:26:09 PM
Greetings All,

Seeing as DOTM is now over, its time to get ready and plan for the next airline.
Trans Oceanic did well and for the Next game I believe I shall try locating myself in a different region, maybe Asia.

I was searching and though I like the name 'Asiana Link' , it is close to the real-world 'Asiana Airlines' which I found after googling my name idea. I've tried again and again but any name that sounds good seems to have already been taken by another real-world airline...does anyone have reccomendations?

Best Regards,
Raptorva

Do something original.  For example, for a regional "puddle jumper" airline make the name be ribbit  ;).  Be creative, like JetBlue (Although, the CEO of JetBlue did go on to found the brazilian airline Azul.  ;D)

How about just Asian Link? There is NO way you'll be able to use Asiana. I also think Asian Express would be even better than Link. But thats only my opinion.  Anyway, youll have to drop the last "A" from Asiana and simply make it Asian. :)

One more bit of advice, make sure the name you choose sounds professional.  You wouldn't believe some of the names people have named the carriers. Keep it very professional, make it sound classy, and don't try to be funny with the name. Keep in mind that "fun" and "stupid" are two completely different things.

Asian Express doesn't sound too bad...add that name to some 757's or something and it might suit.
I'm aiming to try running my next airline as a Low Cost Carrier rather than a Full Service carrier just to try something new so the name should fit that kind of airline

That's only your opinion. As long as the name doesn't offend anyone it's good to be used. I'm so bored with all those links, expresses, airways and airlines...

I'd have to agree. This is a pretty damn realistic game so at least do sami some credit and come up with some proper names.

OH RLY, YEA RLY, NO WAI is not a decent (or funny) name.

Owls are perfectly suitable birds of flight.  That's just the content of the logo anyway, the airline's name is now Owl Express.

I suppose you're not a fan of internet memes... you didn't spell it right...

Nauru International Airlines
Air Papua
Promised Airlines
Palm Beach Aerotran
Yevro Odesa Aviakompaniya   (Euro Odessa Airlines)

For the next game I'm thinking of
Київаеро (Keivaero)
or
五星红旗航空公司 (Five Star Red Airline) (Which is a play on the name of the chinese flag "Five Star Red Flag")

Hummm Which should I do
