Hey all,
I used the search function, but there was no answer to this question.
How long can one get the launch customer discount? Is this a fixed variable?
For example it's end 1996. The Airbus A321-200 launch news was 02-Nov-1996. First delivery is 15-Mar-1998.
How long this discount offer is available?
Can't remember for sure but you have to be the first airline to order, and probably the model has to be just launched (ie. not in production yet). There's no time limit if I remember ...
Thanks a lot sami.
I can remember in Early Days that I was the second airline to order the Vickers Vicsount, but still I got the lauch customer discount.
To get the discount one much purchase at least a certain number of planes (8?). If the first one puchased fewer than required then the one who first purchases that number of planes get the discount.
After certification no one can get the discount.
At least it used to be like this some time ago.
I had only four aircraft ordered when I got the discount
Someone has ordered one aircraft and the discount is still available.

Yeah, when the A380 came out I was the 2nd to purchase. The first guy ordered 1 plane, I ordered 50 and was NOT too thrilled about missing out on that launch customer discount.

This is now based on the A321-200 release in Euro Challenge 2.
Plane certification is in March 1998.
During 1997 there were three orders for A321-200. One lease one plane and another airline leased two times two planes (= 5 planes). I set up my order end november 1997 for 39 A321-200 (24 buy, 15 lease) and I got the discount too. Now the discount is gone (maybe only for my airline?).
So maybe it's not only based on how much planes do you order, but also if you lease or buy them.

has to be new model and order more than 6 aircarfts (should be the first one to order over 6)

If I remember, it shouldn't be like that.. 1 order doesn't make you the launch customer yet, as that's just peanuts.
If you are the launch customer, do you keep the discount for all your topping off orders like in real world or is it just a one order transaction thing?
Only for this one order.
Damn, one year ago I was such a newbie ;D
I would say that as in every business, even a/c manufacturers sell "some" of their first airframes for a lower prices... So, yeah, if anyone of you has ever ordered 1 a/c as launch customer, some other guy/girl can probably get the same discount for some of his/her following orders...
