It seems to me like they never happen, right? So anybody who buys more than the minimum insurance allowed is just throwing away money.

I just thought I'd check on that...

They do not, so you are correct, although it seems from this (https://www.airwaysim.com/forum/index.php/topic,19527.0.html) thread that one day they may happen :)

I remember I saw a press release at Jat Age#1 about a B707 was missing during a flight from NZAA to KSEA ;)

Check Tahiti, it probably had to make a fuel-stop if it was a plane from that era  ;D
