Title: Engine upgrade ?
Post by: Ipazza on March 26, 2010, 10:28:22 PM
I am new to AWS, and really like it. But a few things bother me, some are already posted on this forum but some arent.

In the game messages it keeps telling that production of certain models (say A300, 737?) are extended, but wouldnt it be logical for Airbus to upgrade the aircraft with newer engines? It is 2017 now and they still use the engines from 1990 orso. Will aircraft that have extended production periods get newer engines ?

That's a really good idea and I'd like to see it happen.  It can also help if a new engine comes out with better fuel consumption as long as the plane is still in production.

I already brought that one up in the feature request... Generally ppl shot it down.

It has founding in real life too.   The 707 was reasearched for an engine change, the DC 8 had one, hush kits for 727s.... the idea could make the game more fun.

At the moment when an aircraft model is announced, all ever certified engine and MTOW variants are available.

It would be really nice to se gradual certification of better engines and bigger MTOWs when that is historically realistic.

When I asked Sami about this some time ago, he said he doesn't have the data available to make it historically accurate.
