Title: Long Haul Woes
Post by: zorbon on February 17, 2010, 03:55:25 AM
Don't shoot me I'm new.

I have a question, is longhaul routes determined by continents and not by distance?
I'm playing as Paupa New Guinea right now. Indonesia is not 400NM from my base, it's even on the same island! But when I look at the planning page there is zero demand for a route from Paupa to Indonesia.

This seems unrealistic to me. I have demand in NZ 3000NM away but not from my neighboring boarder nation less than 400nm.

That's a fair point. I think it is related to region, though someone else may clarify. Or perhaps there really is no flight in real life between Papua New Guinea and Indonesia... I assume the indonesian airport you're referring too isn't just domestic?

Well even a flight from Port Moresby to Jakarta  (Significant (4)  to Large (5) ) Is around 2000NM (less than a flight to new zealand) and still considered Longhaul...

As for flight relations between the two contries, there is actually an airline named "Papua Indonesia Air System"

Oh well, guess I'll have to use Australia to spring board into Asia :|
