Title: Question about personnel cost to pre-schedule the on-order aircraft.
Post by: ponmania on December 08, 2009, 04:46:20 AM
As my understanding, in AWS, When I pre-schedule route for the on-order aircraft, staff are immediately required? Why it's not required just a week or a day before aircraft delivered or even on the day aircraft delivered? I'm not sure, will it effect any delay and cancel with lack of staff reason to other route even the aircraft are still on-order if I don't increase staff at scheduling point?
However If I schedule on the day the aircraft delivered, it cause nothing to the route but less personnel cost because all required staff are not pre-hired. Anyway pre-scheduling is essential but the time that staff become required should not be at that point. Or there is any other reason, I don't know?

Just think of it as training time.  You're never going to hire someone the day that you need them.

Yes, it's possible in the game to do it that way.  You can wait until you have the plane on-hand and then immediately hire the people you need.  Or you can do it beforehand and have the people ready to go the second the plane arrives.

As with so many other things in the game, there pluses and minuses to both methods and how you choose to do it is up to you.

1>  Setup the routes/scheduling before-hand and you pay more salary for a a couple extra weeks.  BUT your plane is placed into service immediately.

2>  Book the Routes as soon as the plane arrives.  This is the most cost-efficient, but requires the most micro-management to be online as soon as the plane arrives.

3>  Wait until the plane arrives to book any routes.   You'll save some salary costs but your pilots are already onboard and you may have leasing costs that are incurring as well.

Frankly the salary costs are minimal compared to what the plane will make in revenue.  You're crazy not to setup the route beforehand unless you know you'll be online the exact week that the plane is going to arrive to book it immediately.  And, this reflects reality anyway because you'd hire most of those personnels many weeks if not months before you first fly the route anyhow for training purposes.
