Hi!
I was thiniking... In airlines industry there's the option of "wet" and "dry lease" a/c... If you lease them "wet", the lessor gives you the a/c and the crew (and, if you choose, even insurrance and maintenance, the so called ACMI arrangement). If you lease a "dry" you get onlt the a/c as we already do in this game.
My question is: would it be possible to implement the "wet leasing" option? Sometimes I need to lease an a/c just for a few months at a time and so I do not see why I should lease and a/c for 1 year with all the related costs.
Moreover: would it be possible to lease an a/c for less than one year, let's say 6 months?
Thank you
Edoardo
PS: if we could arrange the wet leasing option we could also avoid problem with Company Image when returing the a/c to the lessor: no people to fire, so no decrease in Company Image.
ACMI would be great for airlines with f.e. one longhaul route with good demand from base.. it's not economical to start new fleet for this one route, but with ACMI you can have one longhaul aircraft and it won't hurt you.
Yeah, right, but I'm still thinking about the advantages of ACMI for the check time!:)
Without detracting from your original ACMI concept, I am very much in favour of short term lease options.
One particular scenario I would like to use it is when it comes to the delivery of new aircraft. I would have no problem meeting a minimum of 1 year lease, but I would like to be able to renew for a period of a number (1-11) months so that I can phase my new aircraft in and match the lease expiry of outgoing aircraft with that plan. Especially because we (mostly) do not have control over the delivery dates of new aircraft.
At the moment I have an excel spreadsheet that shows the delivery dates of new aircraft and expiry dates of the aircraft they will replace, often I cannot get them closer than about 4 months which means huge penalties when terminating the lease early.
Best Regards
Richard
I agree!
