Title: This week's news
Post by: Sami on October 29, 2009, 06:31:49 PM

Updates to our site soon

AirwaySim will introduce a new website layout in the next two weeks or so. The current website has been in service for a few years now already and we have decided to give a small visual boost to the site. No previews yet but just to let you know to expect something new.  ;)

Next game worlds & Development news

Two of the current game worlds are ending soon and new worlds will be opened at the same time these worlds close. The scenarios of the next new worlds are not decided yet so if you have requests please post to our forums.

For the software development of AWS the plan is to keep refining the current version (known as 1.11) as there are two very long games running with this status and it's fair to bring new features also to these current game worlds. However all the updates planned (such as some changes to airport slot systems, country informations, and route systems/HUBs) are not possible to implement into running game worlds. So there will be also a new v.1.12 version available in some months and it will contain some new features that are exclusive only to newly started worlds. But more information about these will be posted later.

Please, could we have a EUROPE scenario? You promised it long time ago and never happened...
Just to target the tough ones, who enjoyed to play the difficult scenarios.

I understand USA wasn't a great success, but that's because there were only few major hubs. I think Europe is different, and if you could also include middle east that would be definetely amazing!

thanks

A small preview of our new logo!

The new website should go live after a week or so, the basic design tasks are all completed now.

The old logo looked better I think, But even with a new colour scheme I think the current one is better.

Sami, the old logo looks better, no offense..... This new one lacks the same simplicity, yet elegence of the current one. Please don't change it! :D

I love the new logo, but there's something lacking in its design... I'n not sure what it is... The old one has three colors in it, and this one really only has two (not counting the white text on both designs). But I love the font choice on this new one!

Well I've been running different websites for over 10 years now and I do know that usually always when the site is changed at least ~third of the users will say that the old site was better, no matter how old it was ;)

I'm sure it's gonna look awesome with the whole change. After all, we're only seeing a bit of the new web design.

One more tiny preview (of a "link" banner) that gives you a bit of a clue on what to expect.  ;D

The new site needs still quite a bit of work as it's a complete rebuild of the layout and stylings. Would hope to get it online during this week.

Put the funky wave in the logo. It looks much better that way. I really like the banner.

The logo is just the 'logo text', the clouds and waves are part of the website header and banners. But basically the logo is used like that alone only in some prints or similar, it's always that banner/header style "full logo experience"  :P

Layout work is almost done, and hoping to get it installed after a day or two.

There will be a 20-60 minute service break on the site while installations are made - site and all games will be closed during that period then (and game world clocks stopped during that time too).

Website will be closed soon for layout updates!

If you are playing, take a break and sip a cup of coffee while waiting ....  ;)

All I can say is WOW! I love the new design, I know I won't be alone but I know - having done web design - that as Sami said plenty of the many AirwaySim members won't like it. If they do I think they must be blind because this design is miles better than the previous, it defiantly gets my approval!
