Title: MOTHBALLING
Post by: TranceAvia on October 22, 2009, 08:48:40 PM
What do you guys think of the idea of introducing mothballing? Say for example you have planes coming up to D check but they are not pulling their weight or if you just don't need an aircraft but you don't want to sell it incase you need it again. Can we use mothballing to store the aircraft without paying staff?

This should probably be in he feature request section (and Sami will no doubt move it.....)

I like this idea for slightly different reasons.

Perhaps paying rent for hanger space and I imagine there would be a delay to get the aircraft up and running again, maybe 2 weeks.

Put aircraft for sale - when in sale aircraft doesn't cost you anything. Put the price high enough so that it doesn't matter if somebody buys/rents it.

There are times that I would like to keep the a/c mothballed/hanger-ed for future use and times I'd like to be rid of it.

Perhaps the option to re-lease it for the remaining period would be nice.  In other words if I have 5 months left on the lease, I can place it on the market and anyone could take over the lease.  Of course if it is not taken then I am still responsible for the lease in the interim.

I sincerely doubt that if you don't own the plane you are able to mothball it...
