Title: I know it's a bit early, but...
Post by: Filippo on October 11, 2009, 10:17:48 AM
In a months time IRL, lots of games will end and I was wandering what the next ones will be.

Personally, I would like a game scenario 2000 - 2020 with the whole world included.

what would you like? and (for Sami) what games will there be?

All the games that are opened are easy or medium difficulty. Honestly there is a ton of them. And the only challenging one was the North American challenge but that one failed a bit even tho it was a fun in the beggining.

so I would propose another one, probably harder game with a lot of players. It doesn't have to be hard but at least hard / medium for 400 players like modern times so there will be a ton of competition :)

Probably something earlier than 2000? For example start at 50-s, and finish in 80-s. Because it was a golden time for aviation, with old beautifull pistons and early jets. Right now we have a plenty games(3) in 2000-s.

Err... No...
Most of our players are young and have never even seen a DC-3 in person let alone flew on one. Modern games are better! Im really enjoying the 'Rise of the Modern Airliners' at the moment!

I agree with Linx. I really liked the many choices and issues one had to deal with on older planes. Made it more of a challenge.

I'm 16, so naturally I'd lean towards something more modern, but me being me I'm Always willing to try something new, a 50s-80's one would be absolutely awesome, and at the same time, have an 80's through to 2020 one? So there is an option or if you are game, you can play both at the same time

Kind of strange position. How many kids know the difference between DASH-8-200E and DASH-8-300B? I'm sure, only couple of them. Also, if we will avoid 50-80is years, they will never know about such great airplanes as Constellation or DC-6. But this airplanes had huge influence on the modern looking aviation. And look on the modern aviation today- only 3-4 major manufactors, with similar looking airplanes, and that's all.

Any other requests?

I think the suggestions are good. Have another modern times like game and setup an early era game like Linx suggested starting in either the 50's or 60's and going to the 80's. Seems like it could be a good challenging game. :)

If we do have a 50ies game, there should be a player restrection of 150-200. If not, I will be to crowded for the amount of demand!

I think there should be much more players than that. It will be harder but that is more fun.

Probably not until Air Travel Boom 2 ends and Jet Age 3 ends. Thats my guess. :)

How about a REALLY long game?

my suggetstion is somthing from 1950~70 until ~2020
with medium skill level
real world fuel prices
WHOLE WORLD
and only very few players (max50-75)
Day length 20 mins

maybe higher entrance fee for that one?!!

what do you think guys?!?!!

Would it be the entire world or certain continents? Cause a long game world like that sounds very intriguing. I don't think it'll fly with Sami if it's the entire world, maybe just one or two continents, Like North America and Europe. But if it has a higher entry fee then maybe. :)

I think that would be terrible, boring and after several years it would be totaly empty.... I am for a really long game but to make it fun you need to either make it hard so people have to keep trying or put in a lot of people. That way they will keep each other busy.

but If you make more than 200 people the game is getting too crowded, I think!
But maybe hard is okay, but what do these skill levels effect in gameplay actually?!?!

Skill level should be overall difficulty of the game.

Well but if you want such a long game, can you imagine, what it would look like with 75 people? After so long? You don't have any difficulty having hundreds, maybe thousands of planes. There is no competition, nothing! It would get boring preatty fast.
Title: New game scenario
Post by: lastchancer on November 30, 2009, 09:53:06 PM
I have a proposal for new game scenarios, according to "North American Challenge" and the ongoing "Euro Challenge".

In NAC i was based in Panama City, and it was a bit anoing, that the only posibility was to fly north but not e.g. to Venezuela or Bolivia.
What a bout a game world, were your homebase has to be located in a continent, but you may fly world wide.
The Challange is still to move the passanger demand from the focus continent, but not only inside the continent.
In this scenario, more players could be allowed due to intercontinental routes.
LF of routes going outside the continent may all decreased to 50% due to no competititors flying in from outside the continent.

Imagine even smaller game worlds like UK Challenge, Japan Challenge, United States Challenge or China Challenge with the option to fly worldwide (or maybe only continent-wide).

An other variation for a smaller game world: Transatlantic Challenge (or Transpacific Challenge).
Homebase may set up in North America or Europe (respective Asia, Oceania and North America).

Starting time:
Glorious times of the tourboprops. Some years later, 707, DC-8 and Convair 880 will be released, forcing the airlines to a fleet rearrangment.

This was a really exciting age in avitation history and might be an interesting and surely hard game world.

I prefer shorter games. I get bored after about 6-8 weeks of playing. Clearly Sami can run 5+ games at a time, so long and short games are possible.
