Title: C check fines?
Post by: FlyTO on August 22, 2009, 10:04:29 PM
Do airlines get fined for running aircraft with outstanding c checks? If yes, how long til we get a fine? or is it random?

Ive been letting my aircraft run without c checks for over a month to get the most of it before its lease runs out or runs out to a closer date so I can terminate the lease for cheaper.

If the aircrat does get fined, what will it affect and the costs? is it all random?

I think that time when you will be fined is random. I HIGHLY recommend you to perform C check or not using aircraft. Flying without proper checks will not only cost you money but it also hurt you company image hugely.

The fine's random, but the fine isn't the bad part, it's the BIG hit to your CI that you take.  Figure a solid 10 points off or so.

it's ~10pts for A & B check misses ... for the C or D checks it can be like -30-40 pts a pop ... so don't risk it.

But as you have seen the inspectors are not there 24/7 - the checks are random.
