We have already over 2000 airports in database but the following areas are still missing many airports:
- Russia
- Canada
- Africa
- Some parts of Asia (see map)
- Some parts of South America (see map)
If you can help us in finding the information then please see this topic: https://www.airwaysim.com/forum/index.php/topic,13.0.html
Before posting the data for us, please see that it has not been already added: https://www.airwaysim.com/Information/Airports

Here's the link to canada's data (already submitted to me, thanks): http://www.statcan.ca/english/freepub/51-203-XIE/51-203-XIE2005000.pdf
If someone could check this list and compare to airwaysim's included airports list and see if we already have all the data from there. And if not, then make the list of missing data in the format requested. Thanks.
i dont understand. Are the red dots the airports still missing??
the red dots are the airports that have been added.
see ya!
Oh yes, naturally so ;)
Again, remember to check this listing first before you do anything, as the airport collection is constantly growing: https://www.airwaysim.com/Information/Airports
1655 currently, plus about ~20 in my inbox that need to be added.
Just noticed that there's also quite poor coverage of Belarus and Ukraine. Russia too, but that I mentioned already. More info is always appreciated.

Yes, still that in the sticky topic of this forum, hasn't changed.
Ok, i just send you 20 new Argentine Airports, 10 Chilean, 2 Paraguayan and 1 Uruguayan. Im working now on Venezuela, Peru and Ecuador.
New cargo:P: 5 Argentinean, 15 Bolivian, 16 Colombian and 5 Peruvian....
For this week ill finish Peru and do Venezuela, so i can go on with central america
Plenty of new airports added - the maps of first posts have been updated too.
Happy me!
I finally got around to the Belarusian Airports! ;D
I think I now have 1 accepted airport in the base and 10 pending! :o
so much.
Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia, HERE I COME!!! (I'll probably only do the Baltic Countries, their SOOO small)
you probably want to check the list of included airports first. All Baltic states are already in the db.

I always check the database, but I think there are a few puny ones that I can add. :D
12 Russian airports sent, more to come. So, that leaves my total to 25 sent, 1 rejected, 12 accepted, and 12 unknown! ;D
Along with Russia, I'll see to it that Mongolia doesn't have any more airports and then I'll help with Ukraine.

Hey Mr. Seattle, How is it that you seem to find this airport information so easily?! And especially for countries like Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Mongolia??
its not so hard XD
Ive already sent like 180-200 airports...
The point is that most of the small airports dosnt have info about the cargo or the number of planes that are able to operate at the same time...
I've never been called Mr!
Well, I go to Wiki, I look them up on the web, I *Sometimes* have to make educated guess', I look at other airline simulation games, and I leave somethings like cargo, capacity, and time blank (or 0's).
P.s. dont do russia, Mongolia, and the other former countries of USSr
Yeah Mr Seattle ;D, I think that wiki is the best tool ever. not only for this!

It is, unless you dont check the source!
In most of them I do, besides it, the airports are mostly of my country, so i know the cities. And the other, i read about the cities like SKBO / BOG in Colombia, it serves the citie of Bogota, ive got information about their population and migration of the whole country.
----
hey and whe should start doing a bit in africa. What if we divide the country in regions so that its easier to do?(1 region=1 member)
Yeah at wikipedia it is quite easy to find information for most airports, try and find information for airports which haven't been included yet. It is difficult. Up until recently I lived in Zimbabwe, and am very acquainted with the region so it's no problem knowing the population for certain places. On wikipedia you will have great difficulty finding info about most African airports. But I invite you to help.

Yeah we could divide it up in to regions, what we could also do is according to languages. I suppose you speak Spanish, so you could do Equatorial Guinea, and maybe if you can the Portuguese speaking countries, Mozambique and Angola?
And if there are any French speaking people, DRC, Cameroon......
and so on and so forth
Yeah.. at least for put min. 7-8 airports in each country...
Volunteers!
For now I'll be working on Zimababwe, Mozambique, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, and Malawi since I have bits and pieces...
I'll take a section from Libya west to the coast and south to Gabon anf back west to the coast. Is that ok?
I'll start with Libya and Tunisia
Great, then i'll take Congo, Angola and Gabon. good luck guys!
I did Libya and added a few very small airports.
but my largest problem was that some airports had no ICAO code for some reason.....
so just letting people know, you need it.
Ok, I did Algeria. Their were 27 airports!! :P
Now Ill check Morroco and if their arent alot of airports to add, ill add them, otherwise ill temporarily go back to Russia.
Good work guys ;)

Good work guys ;)
thanks. I've done Algeria (27), Libya (4), Morocco (4), Tunisia (0), Chad (0), Burkina Faso (1), Niger* (3), Nigeria (doing now, will be about 10-15), Western Sahara* (2).
Russia (12)
MORE TO COME Belarus (7)
Canada (5)
MORE TO COMEMoldova (1)
Latvia (1) rejected :(
Ukraine
Will do shortlyUnited States, Wasington (4)
I have actual sent in 71 and, 1 has been rejected, 13 accepted, 57 are pending and soon there will be more, when I submit the Nigerian ones.
*These countries weren't even in the database!!!!
I'll do the rest of Africa. After Nigeria, I'll do all the small coastal countries, then move into Mali and Mauritania.
Submitted airports from Zimbabwe, Namibia, Zambia, Malawi, Seychelles, Botswana, Reunion, Cape Verde, Eritrea, Congo Brazzaville, Cameroon, Djibouti and Burundi.
In total it's 21 airports I believe.
Ok, I added 4 Nigerian airports and Unbornio sent in the 8 other ones.
I'm doing the West African Countries on or close the Atlantic coast.
ok, I've done Ghana (0), Senegal (3)
Liberia (1) and one airport correction.
more to come later.
Nice work!
Just submitted some work over the past days..
Seems we have forgotten the Pacific Islands and the Pacific Nations! ::)
Fiji (16), Kiribati (3), New Caledonia (9), Samoa (3), Solomon Islands (23), Tonga (6), Tuvalu (1), Vanuatu (29).
Also added onto, Malaysia (15), Eritrea (3).
Keep the good work coming guys!
Never enve thought their would be that many commercial airports in that area.... :P
well good job!
Well it is surprising.
Their are many islands with small airstrips, and a lot of airlines use smaller aircraft to these destinations.. So don't expect to land anything larger than a DHC-2 at most of those listed..
Well, tomorrow you can expect all of the west african countries to be finished and Russia to be restarted.
Im doing Congo right now..
well, tomorrow morn, I'll take a little time off from playing and stuff to work on the airports. ;D :D
Ok, Sierra Leone (2) and Cote D'Ivore (1)
Im going to do Mali and Mauritua, which are non-existant in the database. ;D
Mali (5)
Mauritania (2)
Guinea-Bissau (1)
Guinea (1)
Equitorial Guinea (2)
Benin, Togo, Togo, and Cape Verde are next
QuoteBenin, Togo, Togo, and Cape Verde are next
hey buddy, concerning Cape Verde, I already did Amilcar Cabral International Airport (SID/GVAC)
ok. Just in time as I was about to do it.
well I'll do the other few.
After the rest of the countries like Benin, and blablablabla, I'll do check-ups on Egypt, Ethiopia, and Kenya.
Cape Verde (6) + (1)
I've added now all that has been sent so far. ---> Currently 2326 airports from 181 countries in the database.
I think we have now a fairly complete coverage of the world. But if you spot some airports missing then feel free to send in more data.
some people, may feel that this is not true.... ;)
Just a reminder, most African countries are not included (No are being) and "the team" is going in and finding those "additional" airports. Other weakspots are Still parts in Asia, mainly former USSR. (Which I try doing and am succseding). Then, theirs Canada. Canada has only "good" coverage in lower BC and in the maratimes of Eastern Canada. :)
p.s. Thanks for adding them.
The larger Cuban Airports have been added. ;D
How about an "Send Your Own Data" Feature in future 8)
I will be looking over some East Bloc Country's in the coming days, count me in for that
This is when using the PM system comes in handy seattle. ;)
Fine! I deleted it! ;D
Hello together,
I just found some data about Libreville (FOOL) airport in Gabon. I checked the airports available yet and found Libreville is missing. But I also read in this thread that some users are already working on Gabon airports. Since I don't want to interfere with their work it would be helpful to know if Libreville is still needed.
Regards
Streifeheini
I think it is still needed.
Go ahead and add it because it should have been added.
Okay, Airports i have been working on for the past few days has been just submitted...
Cambodia
Ukraine
Philippines
India (A lot still not covered!)
Azerbaijan (Not ingame until now!)
Georgia (Not ingame until now!)
Iraq (Not Ingame until now!)
Data for Libreville (FOOL/LBV), Gabon has been submitted.

I'm sick today, so I'll be able to do more of Africa.
Will see to these on sunday perhaps earliest. A bit of real work and my birthday party coming up on weekend ;D

Egypt (2) and one airport correction

ok. Is it okay if I continue getting airports? :-\
(Contrary to belief, there are still quite a bit airports left)
Let the ME for me Seattle, already sent around 50 airport's to Sami yesterday around the ME region. Another 20 or 30 going his soon; around this week hopefully or the next if he finishes updating the new airport script's. Focus on other region's Seattle, please leave the ME for me. :)
(Btw it's Kuwaiti from the AM forum's 8) )
Well, you ruined my plans. Im still going to do the ME becuase its the easiest left out region. ;D
There are no airports in Seattle's region that have not been included ;D
Im guessing you've submitted the rest of Jordans, so I'll do former USSR countries.
Ok I'm fine with the former USSR countries, I did Georgia and Azerbaijan so leave these out. Leave the rest for me.. It's only Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Oman and Syria I think left to do.
Leave Jordan too me ;D
when you do Saudi Arabia, I've already submitted all the big ones before, so dont any of the ones with 1 million + pax.
There's a lot more.. Mostly with < 1,000,000 PAX, I submitted the Iranian airport's and sami was fine with it. Saudi Arabia and some select countries are left. You can do Jordan if you want. There's only 6 or 8 KSA airport's in the AWS database, there's another 20 maybe coming on the way. Just leave it to me mate, this area is barren and lacking in many airport's, plus it's the one I alway's play with. ;)
I just wanted to Jordan, so thanks! :)
I sent some data for missing airports in Norway and Iceland. I also sent data for airports in Greenland.

Yeah I wondered who found the data for those other airports :P .....
Waerth
No they are not your airport's mate, this is international data that is free to be spread and published anywhere in the globe or on the internet, you did'nt publish it out to the public and you did'nt count the statistic's of those airport's all by yourself when they were built, so if you 'wondered' where they all came from, it's called internetional data and public statistic's, so please stop jabbering and ranting how you magically made up the data and submitted it, you helped in organizing and sharing it from a previous source; had you said that then no worries would have come up. Oh yeah and they were the airport's that I submitted to AM in the first place that got rejected due to incomplete PAX data. You then came in and did the airport's by yourself which was a great thing too because you have given me the PAX data that I've been looking for. At least learn from my example of how I thanked you and wished you luck when you bumped into my thread and claimed that you had the PAX data and will submit the airport data by yourself. It's okay mate, don't worry the airport list was in my spreadsheet long before you came, it's just I have absolutely no idea where the hell you got the PAX detail's from.. So yeah Waerth thank you for helping out, thank you for 'completing' the data that I had way before you did. :P
P.S. If you wish to start a flame war feel free to do so in the appropriate AM forum's or contact me via PM or if you want we can talk via the mic on MSN, please leave these forum's untampered with regardless post's where you say "I did.." "I found.." "People take credit for what I did..".. And welcome to the AWS forum's, I hope you enjoy your time and make the most out of it, instead of jabbering endlessly, please help out in submitting airport's where you can take credit and play the game. Thank you.

The airport data comes from great circle mapper and other likewise sites. That data is easy, anyone can find that. The pax data doesn't come from there though. I am surprised Sami accepts those without having you give him a source. Yes all data is public. But there is also something called courtesy.
I would enter data here as well if they would have an easy data entry screen. As I enter in large numbers at I time I do not really feel like entering them through emails. Maybe at a later point in time.
I will sit and wait for this game to open for the public or maybe when I am lucky when the beta testing starts, I am not in a hurry. It sure looks impressive.
Waerth
Well, your supposed to include your sources ;)

Thank you for collaborating your point further on waerth.. Sorry to let you know that you need a source for submitting these airport's. Glad I have one. Please keep this thread to topic, if you want to say something beside's the topic of this thread please PM me or start your own thread somewhere else. :)

Sorry but you are not making a valid point there. If some other airline game somewhere in the net has an airport XYZ and it is also added to this game, how is that wrong? :P If such an airport does exist in real life and it does have commercial traffic to it, then it's added to this database.
I have no idea of the format some other software want the airport data but for us you can see the required data from this topic (https://www.airwaysim.com/forum/index.php/topic,13.0.html) so you can compare. Actually data pulled from gr.crc.mapper isn't useful to us as the airport base data is already available to us, and the passenger statistics and other data is the things that are needed.
Of course if you suspect that work you originally have made has gone public and is being spread without your permission then please contact me in private with further details and we'll see how we can investigate that.
Like the info topic I linked (^) points out one submitting airport data must always include the source of the data so that I am able to verify it if needed. (And it's not acceptable to dig the data from any other game of similar content as the data may not be valid there and it's their work.)
Also, feel of course free to submit new data (or make corrections to the current if you find any errors). In my mind there is no need for any fancy form system to submit the data as the current has proved to work out just fine. :)
exactly what sami said.
I didn't know that the Sources where required, bloody good thing that i included them anyway! hehehe.
It would be plain stupid to submit airport info without any basic resource to back it. And im actually amazed at how many Airports have their own website (regional airports).. And if you cannot find that, the local council of that city being served by the airport typically has the info online at their website.
Of course, there's always a time when you have to estimate.
Yes. you have to do that to some airports.
But of course, i always judge it on the Airlines + type Aircraft + Freq used to the certain airport in estimation. It takes time, but it's worth it in the end really...
But one thing that i have found handy, look up the Countries Department of Air Transportation (or DOT etc...), they typically have figures for nearly every airport concerned.
i will try it...
