northwest isn't extinct. Delta just bought it is all. They still use the name, they still use the same aircraft and they still use the livery. should remove it then... ;) You also forgot Wardair. They were big in Canada. Republic and Piedmont aren't extinct either. Republic and Piedmont are both regional carriers flying for airlines like US Airways, United Express, Continental Express etc.

Republic and Piedmont absolutely are extinct. Republic Airways doesnt use the same certificate that Republic Ailrines used. I think the same is true with Piedmont but it may not be. Anyways ask the people of North Carolina if PI is extinct or not. That is like saying Ozark wasnt extinct in 1999 when some yahoos bought a D328 jet and flew it 1/10 full to DFW from COU and called it Ozark.

Wardair I should have added

I miss Western ("The ONLY way to fly" according to their ads)...  And Hughes Airwest, the flying bananas...  And Cascade (a Washington based commuter that used to fly BAC111s, Beech 99s, and finally B1900s).

Dems was de days....

Unfortunately I was not around when the majority of those airlines were flying, but I recall Branniff because it had a very nice publicity and it paid more attention to style, service and the interior of the aircraft - like some European carriers today.

I think the best solution would be to start another poll with WardAir included as an option. Or maybe there should be a poll about whether another poll should be started?

I think we should start a poll on whether to create a poll abut creating a new poll to include Wardair.

Braniff was cool...

I miss Worldways Canada...  And Florida Express (another BAC111 carrier)...   And PBA (Provincetown Boston Airways)...

And seriously, how could you have forgotten Hooters Air?  Seriously?
