Title: 727 Cant fly as far as advertised
Post by: ekaneti on June 25, 2009, 04:00:56 AM
THE 727-200ADV is advertised as flying slightly over 2500 NM. BWI-KEF is 2394 NM and my 727-200ADV takes only 47 pax.

The 727-200Adv can fly a bit over 2500NM but only if you elected to buy the highest MTOW version.  In standard configuration it only can make it 2100-2200NM (depending on engine selection).

^^^^^ +1

This is why you want to buy the airplane that suits your airline best.

Always watch out when buying used planes.  There are 732s out there with a 1000nm range while others have double that.

Don't always go for the biggest and baddest, though.  They are often much more expensive than their shorter-ranged brothers.

And don't buy the high MTOW if you don't need it.. As MTOW is the basis of landing and enroute navigation fees.. = less weight (smaller plane) is cheaper.
