Ok, Gävle/Sandviken is in the game. ;D

None of these airports really have any demand..... Plus you need to include city populations...
Title: Re: Swedish airports missing (Hudiskvall, Idre, Söderhamn, Gävle/Sandviken, Sköv
Post by: Toblerone on September 13, 2009, 08:37:35 PM
This is Sweden...not USA, there is only one metropolitan in this country, the rest is small towns. Skövde and all the other towns do have demands, why include Hemavan, Vilhemlina, Storuman and Pajala it you don't include these airports? That makes no sense.

Post by: Seattle on September 19, 2009, 03:40:17 PM
Those airports have no more than 15 seats in demand and most you listed havew only like 2-5 people. You cant really make a profit off of that  ;)

Those aren't included probably because they are all closed in 2008, so no data was available I believe ... But I will see if these can be added.
Title: Missing airports
Post by: RUH_Flyer on December 27, 2009, 12:01:27 PM
Hello,

I find it strange that both Dhahran International Airport (which used to serves the Dammam metro area in eastern Saudi Arabia) and the airport that replaced it (Dammam - King Fahad International)  aren't in the game especially because its the third international airport behind Riyadh and Jeddah and handles a lot of traffic (specially DHA in the 90s)

Airport info:
Dhahran International Airport (post 1999: King Abdulaziz ilitary airbase)
IATA: DHA
ICAO: OEDR
http://worldaerodata.com/wad.cgi?id=SA82691

Dammam - King Fahad International
IATA: DMM
IACO:OEDF
http://worldaerodata.com/wad.cgi?id=SA78206

Thank you

Some info about the annual passenger figures (pax / year), and pax distribution (routes flown to) is needed. And also when the airports were opened for traffic etc.

I am not really sure where to get that kind of information  :-\

Google is there for a reason  ;D. Pax distribution can basically be domestic, short-haul, long-haul (in percentage).

Usually, Sami adds it to a database, only when a new game starts the airport gets in.

Hi Sami,

Just wondering what you might need in order to add airports that have scheduled service (specifically from my home base in CYUL).  ;)

All the following have service by CJA - numbers are the capacity on the route on a daily basis.

Bagotville (CYBG) - 120
Baie Comeau (CYBC) - 40
Bathurst (CZBF) - 80 (Actually in game with much lower demand)
Ile de Madelaine (CYGR) - 40
Gaspe (CYGP) - 80 (Also already in game)
Mont Joli (CYYY) - 40
Sept Isles (CYZV) - 120
Wabush (CYWK) - 40
Val D'Or (CYVO) - 160

Thanks for letting me know.

Title: New Aerodrome: King Shaka International Airport
Post by: kone_alta on May 25, 2010, 07:23:31 AM
I've just wiki on the topics related to South Africa and found the following:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_Shaka_International_Airport
The King Shaka International Airport(FALE) has replaced the Durban International Airport(FADN)

The new airport has longer runway than the old one which allows bigger planes landing there(Indeed it is A380 ready). And I've checked there are some long hauls going to London, Paris, Singapore, Dubai, etc.

I hope this airport will appear in next game world  ;)

Edit: overlooked the departure schedule and FALE have international flights to Dubai, Mauritius and Maputo only  :-[
Title: Re: New Aerodrome: King Shaka International Airport

Well, there is no pax data on the airport yet.
Title: Re: New Aerodrome: King Shaka International Airport

Well, there is no pax data on the airport yet.

There's no pax data for 99% of the airports in the game either.  So that doesn't really mean a whole lot.

If FALE replaced FADN, it's an easy change to just move whatever pax sami's got for FADN to FALE whenever the appropriate year is.
Title: Missing Airports in Mexico

CIUDAD DEL CARMEN - CME
COLIMA - CLQ
GUAYMA - GYM
IXTAPA ZIHUATANEJO - ZIH

Title: Re: New Aerodrome: King Shaka International Airport
Post by: kone_alta on May 26, 2010, 07:01:26 PM
I understand it is a new airport, but the old Durban Airport's runway is too short for Large Aircraft(although at the time being it is hard to proof if there are any international demand to there). I think  player like me who are based in South Africa would be very happy to see an airport with less technical restriction come effect, and bring more fun of course.  ::)
Title: Bangladesh Airport Data
Post by: damar_cahsolo on May 31, 2010, 06:53:35 PM
How come there's only two airports in Bangladesh? The Shah Amanat International Airport, which is the second largest airport in terms of passenger traffic in Bangladesh, is not even listed. Moreover, there are many other airports in Bangladesh. Please see the list below on wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_airports_in_Bangladesh

I hope that this could be incorporated into the game?

Thank you,

Title: Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo International Airport
Post by: connorc17 on July 02, 2010, 05:28:09 PM
Can't find this airport anywhere in the game. It definitely deserves to be added as it is a major US vacation destination.

http://worldaerodata.com/wad.cgi?id=MX92074&sch=MMZH

I'm having trouble finding pax statistics though. Maybe you could find them on the comprehensive list of Mexico pax traffic for 2009?(wherever that might be)

Most people wouldn't use these airports especially as it seems to me most of them only have traffic between those, so it would be a waste of time implementing these IMHO....

cheers

Maybe for some users it would be a waste of time, but I find it more satisfying flying my airline to smaller airports in the game that are in remote locations. These airports would only be like those of many island nations in the pacific as most are based on islands themselves, and although most of the traffic is between them, there is almost certainly demand for flights to Aberdeen and Glasgow. For example flights from Eday to Aberdeen would have a small demand (enough lets say for a DHC-6) as many passengers get connecting flights from Kirkwall. Besides it means Sami can gloat that there's more airports in the game  ;)

Thanks  :)

EDIT:Over the years, the airport has seen a number of layout modifications. An original northwest/southeast 5,000-foot (1,500 m) runway was converted to a taxiway to permit construction of the Publix supermarket chain's corporate aircraft facility on the northwest end, while Runway 9/27 was incrementally increased in length to 6,000 feet (1,800 m) in the late 1950s and then to 8,500 feet (2,600 m) in the late 1990s. Runway 9/27, its associated taxiway system and the current airport terminal ramp area is currently built to a design standard that enables it to accommodate Boeing 737-700/800 series aircraft.

Is it possible to add two airports in Georgia?

Currently is only Tbilisi (UGTB) and if you look for airport information,
it's says 52% of traffic is domestic...but surprise, no other airports in country!

Batumi (UGSB/BUS)

Country Georgia
ICAO ID UGSB
Time UTC+4
Latitude 41.610278
41° 36' 37.00" N
Longitude 41.599694
041° 35' 58.90" E
Elevation 105 feet
32 meters
Magnetic Variation 005° E (01/06)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batumi_Airport

Kutaisi (UGKO/KUT)

Country Georgia
ICAO ID UGKO
Time UTC+3(+4DT)
Latitude 42.176653
42° 10' 35.95" N
Longitude 42.482583
042° 28' 57.30" E
Elevation 223 feet
68 meters
Type Civil
Magnetic Variation 005° E (01/06)

For July 2013, the operator reported 84,563 passengers (from wiki)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kutaisi_International_Airport

Also for Tbilisi airport demand is very low,
for example in airport data we can see around 70-80.000 per year,
but in fact at year 2008 it was 714,815 almost 10 times more.

Thanx for help!

LDSB (Brač) in Croatia. It is small airport but in summer months Croatia Airlines and Austrian Airlines has weekly lines with Dash Q 400 so if there is Portorož in Slovenia and there are no regular lines to Portorož there should also be Brač.

Goma airport in the Democratic Republic of Congo is a small yet major airport with many flights to and from the capital daily. The airfield was subject to a volcano eruption in 2002 which shortened the runway, however commercial traffic still operates to and from here on a regular basis. I have included information on the airfield below. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/59/Goma_Airport_Potters-2.jpg

Hey Sami, not sure if you are following developments in Sri Lanka, but they opened a new 2nd international airport HRI in the southeast by the beaches (saving a full day drive each way).  You may have added already, but if not here's some info.

seems like with games going into the future this would be a good airport to add and Sri lankan is flying a330s to places like BKK and the gulf carriers are all evaluating.

Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA) (also known as the Hambantota International (IATA: HRI, ICAO: VCRI). It opened in 2013

Runway is 5/23, 3500m and asphalt per the wiki.  It also has the airline's currently flying there.

Here's the wiki
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mattala_Rajapaksa_International_Airport

Not sure if you are up for a challenge, but there is now a fairly established domestic operation run by Cinnamon Air that uses Cessna 208 Amphibian Caravans to shuttle round between airports, reservoirs  and ocean/ports.  It saves massive time getting around.  Not sure how hard to program water airports...or if anyone wants to be a Sri Lanka airline mogal, but could be fun to consider.

Here is their route map of scheduled and charter destinations.

Not sure it is the right place to post, but I recently noticed that IRL, Grenoble Airport works mainly on weekends (http://www.grenoble-airport.com/en/destinations/schedules-regular-lines).

I'm counting the following regular flights :
monday 1
tuesday 0
wednesday 0
Thursday 2
Friday 5
Saturday 60
Sunday 38

Maybe that airport could have more demand on saturdays & sundays? for every destination but London & Dublin?Dunno if it's easy to do, but I find this planned flights page strikingly different from the Airwaysim demand.

PNQ, GOI, VTZ all have wide body international service in real life, but are missing.

Mistakes:
VELR is mistakenly listed as IXR. It is actually IXI. IXR is Ranchi (VERC), which is missing.

In addition, demand in India is far too low. For example, there are 60 flights today from BOM to DEL, including multiple widebody services. However, in GW3, demand is just 1400 pax per day.

playing in India for the first time in the current GW#1 I also noticed the huge amount of missing airports and the very low demand.
The game year is around 1970 so of course it may be even too high compared to the real demand at that time but when I check demand in GW #3 which is in 2016 currently then the demand is far too low - so demand simulation may need to take a steeper curve than in other countries.

One of the (many) missing airports is:
Pune (VAPO) - many flights per hour to BOM, DEL, BGL, etc - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pune_Airport

but there are also
Rajkot (VARK) - today at least 6 flights to BOM by 737/A320, one to DEL  by ATR
Jamnagar (VAJM) - today at least 1 flight to BOM by 737/A320
Diu (VA1P) - today at least 1 flight to BOM by ATR
Dharamsala (VIGG) - today at least 6 flights to DEL by ATR/DH8
Jammu (VIJU) - today at least 4 flights to DEL, 1 to SXR, 1 to IXL
Dehradun (VIDN) - today at least 26 flights to DEL, some to BOM, one to LKO
Allahabad (VIAL) - today at least 2 flights to DEL, one to BOM
Ranchi (VERC) - today at least 5 flights to DEL, 6 to PAT, 1 to CCU
Bhopal (VABP) - today at least 4 flights to BOM, 6 to DEL, 1 to JLR, 1 to RPR
Surat (VASU) - today at least 3 flights to BOM, 1 to DEL

i've only covered northern india and only very roughly... In the south there's

Belgaum (VABM)
Hubli (VOHB)
Madurai (VOMD)
Rajahmundry (VORY)
Jabalpur (VAJB)

Also there's a law in India that every state has one international airport. So there may be big domestic airports in some states that have no international traffic at all.

It would be really great to make India a more attractive country to play! Especially missing an airport like Pune but having a game with little airports noone knows and where you can't schedule any reasonable flights to in countries like Switzerland is a severe asymmetry in the game.

I am happy to help by assembling all necessary data so please contact me when you upgrade!

Demand might not be high, but I think it will help relieve some pressure on Love and DFW.

I'd like to see Sandspit - YZP added in Canada.

On the Canadian island of Haida Gwaii, British Columbia just south of Alaska I've flown there twice and it's served daily by an Air Canada mainline DHC-300 and twice in the summer when the tourists arrive.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandspit_Airport

Also in Canada, there are a few airports not served that see a fairly large amount of traffic.

Wabush, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wabush_Airport
St. Anthony, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Anthony_Airport - Quite an important airport for Newfoundland, located in the far north.
Sept Iles https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sept-%C3%8Eles_Airport - A very big ommision in many ways. Lots of flights from all over the place.

Hello,

Being interested in both, aviation and development politics, I'm closely following aviation developments in central Africa. I've especially dealt with the countries of Angola, DR Congo and the Republic Congo.

I actually wanted to open my airline in one of those countries but I soon noticed that there are many airports missing.

Angola

There is only one airport in the game in Angola which is the capitals' one. The country has many more airports with paved runways which were already serviced by at least TAAG Angola Airlines in the 70s. After the end of civil war, these airports have been renewed and brought to international standards. Most of them are still daily serviced by TAAG (using B737s) or smaller private carriers (using EMB120 and EMB145).

I can provide lists of all the airports, but it is difficult to obtain exact traffic data. Estimations can be easily made, looking at the daily arriving planes.

DR Congo

There are 8 airports in the game in the DR Congo. Interestingly, some of them are only very small dirt strips (with no scheduled service) which could probably be removed from the game. On the contrary, airports like even the 2nd largest in the country, Lubumbashi Luano International Airport, offering daily services to Johannesburg, is missing. Also other airports of cities with more than 1.000.000 inhabitants are not included. Some of the airports have been built by the Belgians (before 1960 during colonial times) while some others have been built in the 70s using US development aid. Air Zaire served the airports in the 70s and 80s, nowadays they are flown to by carriers like CAA (A321), Congo Airways (A320 and DH4) and KinAvia (Let 410).

Once again I can provide lists of the airports with accurate data, but passenger numbers would again be estimations.

Republic of Congo

2 airports are in the game. A few more should be as they have recently been renewed and are served by Canadian Airways Congo and other small private airlines.

It would be nice to see some more African airports in the game, especially those of regional importance! I didn't want to spam this thread with endless information on various airports. First, I want to make sure that it is needed data which could be implemented. Secondly, I was wondering if just posting the information here is the best way of providing it? The could be a format to follow when adding "new" airports to the game so that all the data doesn't have to be re-structured all over.

Thanks for any tips,

ian

Title: Missing Airports in India
Post by: deovrat on May 15, 2017, 01:24:28 PM
Hi Admins,

I'm playing from a base in India, and noticed that while some very small/inoperative airfields (e.g. Agra) are present in the game; some of the bigger ones like Pune (PNQ) and Aurangabad (IXU) are not.

Pune (PNQ): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pune_Airport

Aurangabad (IXU): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aurangabad_Airport

Furthermore, accurate data for actual pax demand for all Indian domestic city-pairs is easily available online, and it is given by DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation), which is the aviation regulatory body in India. So if you have enough time, you can model accurate pax demand for every Indian domestic route in your next game iteration.

March 2017 figures are available here: http://dgca.nic.in/pub/month-stats/2017/DOM%20CITYPAIR%20DATA,%20MAR%202017.pdf

Thanks !

Would be nice to have them in for those dorniers etc. and since Norwegian airlines cant base outside Norway.

Also should the 50nm limit be removed so its possible to fly between those smaller airports in northern Norway.

Hi,

Greetings from Iraq. I live in Erbil/Arbil and was a bit surprised to see it's not in the game. Can you add it?

I am shamelessly copying from Wikipedia...

A new Turkish built, $US550 million airport was opened on 3 March 2010. The new airport is next to the old airport (previously a military field) and has one of the world's longest runways, 4,800 m × 75 m (15,748 ft × 246 ft) and is equipped for ILS CAT II operations.[1] The airport's new terminal has duty-free shops and currency exchange offices.[3] The terminal also has CIP areas for business jets, and there is a VIP terminal for visiting dignitaries and diplomats.[2] for a purpose of achieving the international airport standards [4]

In 2010 Erbil International Airport had the least expensive aviation fuel in Iraq (at 83 US cents per litre).[5]

I have attached the current destinations/airlines so you get an idea of the traffic levels. Just over 1.5 passengers in 2014 although it may have gone done during 15/16 given the presence of IS in the region. Although now things are picking up again. If the oil price improves the economy will also grow with it....

the airports central to the real-world milk run of UA155 are missing.

These are TKK, PNI, KWA and MAJ. Was trying to re-create the milk run in RC but without success. :)
And if continuing to Island hop over to Palau, the airport on Yap is also missing ;)

(I was also looking for these airports)

If you want to go for historical authenticity, then for the pre Next Gen 737 era, the now closed airport at Johnston Atoll was the stop between Honolulu and Majuro.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnston_Atoll_Airport
Absent of those airfield resulted in a serious detour on a route that I am actually operating in the game... (Although that route won't make money anyway)

Irak & Baghdad

I know that with all the wars and embargoes there are no real figures for Baghdad and the other smaller Iraqi airports but it's a pity we can't fly there
in Game World 2.
Would be nice if at least Baghdad were available. One could give it a demand mix of something in between DAM & TEH for example?

Cheers!

SDA Airport opened in 1982 but Iraqi Airways was flying Viscounts and Tridents long before that.... I couldn't find much reference to the original
airport (AL Muthana, I believe) but being Baghdad, it must have been one of the busier ones in the Middle East back then.

Is it possible to please add the new airport here in Paros, Greece PAS/LGPA, which replaced the old one of the same name/codes on 25th July 2016. The new airport is much bigger and serves much more traffic (although still small) with up to 12 daily flights in summer, including some international charter flights.

Airport details in the Wiki link:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Paros_Airport
Runway width is 30m (not mentioned there)

Pax figures for the first half of last year here:
https://news.gtp.gr/2017/08/10/paros-airport-highest-passenger-traffic-jan-july-2017/
The average traffic from that link is 450 pax. per day but it differs a lot from winter to summer with approx 700 pax. per day in summer (85% domestic, 15% SH International) and 100 pax per day in winter (100% domestic).
Opening hours are as and when required but are basically daylight only (6am to 8pm in summer).

It appears that it's been listed here, but there are a bunch of Pacific island airports missing.  MDY or MAJ to name two.  Cargo planes are really lacking in range, and getting across the Pacific and back after the DC-6's age out in anything fuel efficient is next to impossible.

The old airport of Palmas, Brazil, is missing.

It was an airport which operated temporarily from shortly after the inauguration of the city - somewhere in 1991 - through the inauguration of the current Lysias Rodrigues Airport, in 2001.

I couldn't find detailed information about that aiport. I gathered some data with the help of Wikipedia and historical satellite images in Google Earth. According to these sources, the airport had the IATA designation as PMW and ICAO designation as SWPJ, operated "temporarily" in over 10 years and its runway was 1800 x 30 m, which was sufficient for large aircraft to operate.

Below there are 2 satellite images taken from Google Earth, showing the location of the airport with respect to the current one and the demonstration of the runway's dimensions. The airport coordinates were taken by myself with Google Earth and is of the point at the center of the runway:

Some significant airports in the Philippines missing from the database (mostly small but active airports):

Tablas Airport (RPVU / BH) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tugdan_Airport
Ormoc Airport (RPVO / OMC) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ormoc_Airport
Cauayan Airport (RPUY / CYZ) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cauayan_Airport
Calbayog Airport (RPVC / CYP) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calbayog_Airport
Cuyo Airport (RPLO / CYU) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuyo_Airport
Balesin Airport (RPLE / BSI) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balesin_Airport
El Nido Airport (RPEN / ENI) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_Nido_Airport

In addition, it would be nice to update data on Caticlan Airport (RPVE / MPH) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godofredo_P._Ramos_Airport

Also, Laguindingan Airport (RPMY) became the main airport serving Cagayan de Oro City starting June 2013. It inherited the IATA code CGY from Lumbia Airport (RPML), the one currently in the AWS DB (Lumbia is now a military facility).

not really a missing airport but:

MDE was only opened in 1985. before that, EOH was the airport serving Medellin. EOH was closed between 1985 and 1990 and is since only open to domestic traffic. Maybe something to reflect better for new gameworlds :)
