Title: Airline safety cards?.. Starting a collection
Post by: swiftus27 on April 12, 2012, 03:12:25 PM
Everyone, I am starting a collection of safety cards (the news you find in the seat pocket in front of you).  I don't know how I want to get them but I was hoping that some of you can start getting a few obscure ones for me.    I'll be on a 717 tomorrow.   I'll pay for any shipping via PayPal.

I have a Mesa crj900
United 738/739
United express Emb 145
Republic emb 170/175

Isn't it illegal to take these off an airplane?!

If there are any in your possession, then let me know.  We got to make sure everyone has the card in front of them so they know how to properly kiss their butt goodbye.   Please do not steal.

If there are any in your possession, then let me know.

Well, you could have told me earlier, I just came back from BCN this moring on Air Berlin A320... could have (tried to) manage to get them...

When I flew Ryanair, only one return trip, after landing I just asked the fa if I could get one of them. The pilot then gave me one spare. Most personell on board enjoy aviatian enthousiasts and their crazy hobbies so if there is a spare one, theyll give you one :)

Perhaps I should send a letter to all of these companies????  I would love to figure out how.

I sent one to SWA and United.  I will send more when I have time.  I'd be much happier if I could find more obscure ones, though.

With SWA you will be more likely to have your request accepted if you write it with crayons on some toilet paper than a formal letter, lol  :D

You should have mentioned it 2 weeks ago.  I would have had for you a 738 United, 753 United (I guess these 2 are not that rare), Cessna 402 and a Piper Aztec

Come to think of it I could get you one for a BAe Jetstream 32. I would have to email it to you though.

JS, what were the latter two like? Were they commercial passenger planes?

I read a DL DC-9 30/40/50 safety card on Friday, then put it back in the seat back pocket of N775NC. I will repeat that again on Monday in your honor.

I read a DL DC-9 30/40/50 safety card on Friday, then put it back in the seat back pocket of N775NC. I will repeat that again on Monday in your honor.

As you fly DC-9 so often (as you claim) why do you still bother reading those safety cards? I only read them in "new" types that I fly on first, or when I sit in an exit row I haven't yet sat in to re-memorize how the window thingys work, or just in case the emergency exit doors.

Got a 712 from airtran.  Thanks to a member who lives 10 minutes from me, I may be able to get a bunch of 737 cards.

I appreciate the help and will post the final work.

A successful haul.......  I am simply borrowing them, I promise.

And don't mind the "Please don't remove this card from the aircraft".  I left about $5,000 behind in Hawaii altogether.  The state owes me one.

When I flew FR for the first and last time I just explained and asked them and they liked my story so they gave me one. So I'm in the possesion of a very rare FR safetycard, legally aquired too!  8)

I might be able to get you some from German Carriers (Condor, TUIfly, Germania and SunExpress Deutschland and a low chance of AirBerlin) and some Turkish ones (Turkish Airlines, Freebird, SunExpress, Tailwind, Anadolu Jet (latter two come rarely)).

I'll see what I can do tonight, send me a PM with your home address (or a shipment address) and I'll send you the bill for the shipment ;)

cheers,

Okay,

I've been busy this weekend for you swiftus :)

Türk Hava Yollari 738
Scandinavian Airlines M81/2

Will send you those to the address you gave me, and tell you how much postage you owe me tomorrow, as soon as the post offices open again :)

cheers,
[SC] Jona L.

P.S. I'll collect more in the next days if I can, and pile up till worth sending another pack, if you wish.

P.P.S. I actually know the hottie that is on the TK ones, she looks even better in real life ;)

Im serious about paying all shipping for these cards.  Hopefully Jona's batch arrives soon.  My house is currently for sale and when we move, the final product will be a long project.

One idea is getting large maps of the continents and cut extra safety cards into shapes that fit over the country that airline is based in.   Put a push pin in the cities visited that connects to some pictures of our travels.

Okay, sounds cheesy .... but since we can't seemingly have kids, we're hopefully going to have lots of money to travel with.

Sorry to hear that, man. Good luck though :)

I have 2 more in stack right now, will wait for some more before sending another batch.

InterSky ATR72-600 (brand new, airline operates that type since 4 weeks).
and a pretty old one I got from Jettime today. She didn't have spare ones, so had to give me one from a random seat pocket. Type: B737-300SPER (-300 with NG instruments + winglets + extra fuel tanks)
Left as a DEPA flight for enroute CPH-HEL-DUS-LOS-DUS-CPH on the outbnd flight.

Thanks Jona, I appreciate it.

Quick Ameri-English lesson for all:    (not trying to come across as a douche)

Plural of Aircraft is Aircraft.   Plural of Math is Math.   Just like Deer and Moose too....  Strange, I know.

I see the word Payed alot.   Pay, like many other odd words of the language, changes to Paid when in the past tense.     Stupid, I get it.

I bet that screws people up like etre verbs for people learning French.

'Math' is a real ear-itcher for me : just sounds wrong.

btw... its 'English', no modifier is required, its already a mish-mash of 4 or more 'base' languages, then seasoned with bits of dozens of other languages and topped with hundreds of dialects, so seems a bit daft to get worried about the 'correct' version...

Hey, Swiftus, been a bit busy today again for you :)

Another TK one (this time A330-2/300) (sorry Alex, but it's really easy LOL you must be doing something wrong :P )
and Pegasus Airlines 738 (2 versions, brand new from the stack)

Forgot to ask on Aer Lingus A320 again today, will do tomorrow (if I have them) and also forgot the SK CRJ9, will try that as well next time I have one.

Dunno my roster for tomorrow, but I can tell you there will be more coming once season commences again towards march, because than more of the exotics starts flying again (Bulgarian Air Charter MD82, Air Via A320, SkyHava Yollary and German Sky and the alike).

I'll wait till I have like 10 or so before sending another package (since postage remains the same 5,50€ until 500g).

cheers,

No it's not, mathematics is a mass noun.  You can not count mathematics (which is kind of amusing).  You can not have two mathematics, and there is no one mathematic.  There is just mathematics.  That link I posted is a whole article about math/maths.  Our crazy language is crazy   :)

Well that's my simple understanding of it. But I think you must be a scholar so I bow down  :D To be honest I couldn't read your link because it had so many words I didn't understand in it.

My point (perhaps tongue in cheek) is that American is a completely different language to (British) English. Of course anything contained in my posts simply represents my opinion and not fact. But they never understand me when I go over there any more  :'(

All of Delta's current DC-9s are old Northwest planes. They had a very old fleet

Still doesn't change the point, that DC-9s are a usual sight around ATL and nearby.

some more addements:

TK - Türk Hava Yollari - B777-300ER (completing you TK fleet)
AB - AirBerlin - A330-200
AB - AirBerlin - A330-200 D-ABXA/XB only
AB - AirBerlin - A320
IR - IranAir - A310-200/300 (a real rarity, just due to a diversion from CGN due to security staff strike there)

Those AB ones are thanks to the colleagues from our sister company who handle the former LTU planes of AB, of whom I mobilized the one or another guy to supplement some cards :)

I guess that is sufficient for sending a new package. Will see to get to post office on Monday (maybe get some more cards tomorrow but pretty unlikely), buy a new envelope and send them to you.

Would be nice to know if the other package already arrived, and also if your address is still valid (I think you said you were moving?!?).

cheers,
[SC] Jona L.

EDIT:
Added two pictures of he collection... needed ~50% of the size of my bed to position them all ;D

Found (!!) an EK 773 one in one of our company cars (LOL!) yesterday at work.

So all the above + EK B773/W.

Will send package tomorrow when post offices open again.

cheers,

P.S. did the other round arrive yet or not?!

Since I am drowning in work and work-related issues, I have not yet managed to get to the post office.

Anyways, in the meantime, I also grabbed an SK A319 for you :) . Maybe get some more tomorrow, will have to see. Yet I have to see when I can get to the PO... might take some more days.

cheers for now,

Well, I have sent 2 in total, so you should have almost all. Got a Saudi Arabian A333 today (Hadj flights) and yesterday an SK A321 one... will make sure you get more :) .
I'll be traveling a bit in the next weeks so might get you some Lufthansa ones.

cheers,

if you collect them i'll pick them up on my next visit to dus.

I don't want anything to do with any OR aircraft. They smell old. they smell like 22year old 763's

This one was a B738 operating on behalf of TUIfly. PH-TFC is only 4 yrs old according to airfleets.net, so step down :P

Oh, and tell me which you already have, so I need not collect any more than needed.
