I red it somewhere before, but i don't remember ???
Amazing, been on that plane twice, once for JFK - LHR... second to last commercial flight of that plane, and once for a tour when it was on the ground.... just an amazing experience!

I though Concorde lost its certificate to fly since AF4590 in 2000 (or a bit later, but due to the accident)...
so how do they want to get it back flying?!

There is a different airworthiness certificate required to fly displays and airshows, compared to that required to fly commercial passengers.

And I don't think Concorde lost the certificate due to the accident. I mean, it wouldn't take 3 years then. Concorde was retired in 2003.
Btw who is going to pay for operating Concorde?

They are trying to get it back to flight.
As for founding... just like ever other museum/heritage aircraft... through donations...
Concorde never lost its tickets, the only reason why it was retired was because of the expenses to operate it and Airbus decided it was no longer going to give support of the aircraft pretty much forcing its retirement. British Airways actually operated Concorde making money, Air France however never did with it.
There are few Concorde stored around the world and the one in MAN is best kept. They offer tours (regular around 30 mins and technical around 1 .5 hr or so) cost around £10-15 for regular and £20-25 for technical. Also donations and enthusiasts have kept the beauty alive and also in mint condition.
The viewing park in MAN is a great place to checkout and Concorde is now stored in a indoor hangar to protect its fuselage as VS was planning to lease it and start flying again. But due to the spare parts/maintainance issues they had to backoff.
Hope it flies again one day or may be CONCORDE II is revealed soon.

What about the one in DC? They flew it there, landed it, and pulled it into the Smithsonian Hangar at Dulles?

Have they kept the original interior or have they fitted it out as a museum. From what I remember they only kept part of the original interior, did they not?
Also the one in NY on the aircraft carrier, wonder what nick that one is in.
sounds great - used be was fastest plane - from London to new york in around 3 hours
but now all planes take longer to new york - but we could get new conordes built meaning more faster service and hourly service meaning more people able to travel over to USA and other places

Any idea what the ticket price has to be to break even with supersonic flights?
I think the chances are ten times bigger we see an easyJet A380 one day. That will ship more people across the Atlantic. People do not care about time on such flights, they do however care about their wallet.

It was 2000-5000 back in the early 2000's when it was flying. That was when gas was maybe 30-40$ a barrel (or cheaper). It would easily be over 10 grand now. But if you think about it, im sure there would still be a demand for it. I mean look at Emirates, I have seen tickets from them in first class on an A380 reach over $35,000 per seat
I tried to book a seat during the last few days of flying, LHR-JFK- 9000GBP one way ::)
