Nine months after a successful launch out of its Detroit (DTW) headquarters, Motown Airlines has announced that they have added a base in Philadelphia (PHL) and will be known as "MoAir." The announcement was made by MoAir CEO Paul Roper.

Serving 39 destinations across the United States, Canada and Mexico, MoAir has experienced tremendous growth since its founding on December 2, 2020. Entering the month of September, flights departed on-time at a rate of 93.7%, which is good for 10th in the world. In addition to serving its passengers, MoAir has had an efficient cargo network with a load factor of 91.8%, a figure that's 3rd-best in the world.

Among the popular flight offerings out of Detroit are Las Vegas (LAS), Orlando (MCO) and PHL. The last of that trio was on the inaugural flight schedule and the DTW/PHL flight pair has been the most successful from launch. MoAir will be the first airline based out of PHL, which is the 67th-busiest airport in the world.

"The City of Brotherly Love has welcomed our airline with open arms," Roper said. "We're looking forward to providing our efficient and on-time service from one of the most historic cities in America. We appreciate what Detroit has done in terms of helping grow our brand but with the expansion to Philadelphia, we felt it was time for a change that reflects what we do as a company. Our roots will always be in Motown, but we want to get 'Mo' planes in the Air.'"

Service will begin out of PHL on September 14 three daily flights to Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson (ATL), the 6th-busiest airport in the world. On September 15, service will be provided with a pair of daily flights from PHL to Chicago-Midway (MDW) as well as MCO, Miami (MIA), Pittsburgh (PIT) and Boston (BOS).
Plenty of ATRs available at rock bottom price. Save them from the scrap heap

Announcements - History and the Future / A lost decade

For Volppe Airlines the 70's have been really really bad. Our CEO CrazyBernie decided to take an extended sabbatical which lasted more then 12 years.  During this time the CEO had expected that the experienced management team would keep the organization on track. In reality s*** started to go downhill really fast. Volppe Leasing forgot to  offer planes to it's customers which caused them to go to other parties. Volppe Cargo decided to stop upgrading it's fleet capacity and even worse stopped  expanding to new and exiting airports. So they dropped from the number two position in cargo revenue to the 5th position in cargo revenue.

However the worst offender was Volppe Airlines the groups  flagship passenger carrier, it's route department decided to ignore available slots in Heathrow, decided that brand new more fuel efficient planes where better of staying in long term storage, rising operational costs due to fuel spikes have not been reflected in ticket prices even though planes are completely full, staff wasn't given a raise etc etc.

Long story short CrazyBernie  has been called back by a majority of the Volppes shareholders.

Among his first big decisions.
1. Give every staff member the raise they should have gotten years ago.
2. Close  down Cargo hub London Lutton and transferring staff and planes to London Stansted or Birmingham.
3. Redo almost the entire routing network from Heathrow.
4. Deploy every new planes that was in long term storage and scrap any excess planes that are older then 15 years.
5. Drastically expand the cargo routes from Birmingham, London Heathrow and London Stansted.
6. Do a press release after all of the above have been completed.

After these major changes we're happy to report that Volppe Airines is back in the black and grown rapidly again.
Quarterly revenue is up almost 2 billion.
New planes have been ordered.
Cargo revenue has been up 80% even though a cargo only base was closed.

And most importantly Volppe Airlines is back in  black.  Posting it's first operational profit since 1979

Things are going so well that expansion to an additional airport is due to be announced shortly.

Announcements - Beginner's World #2 / Marketing Department has been replaced

After the embarrassing mishap of branding the airline with a spelling error in its name due to sloppiness and incompetence, the entire marketing department at Air Maritim (sic) has been fired and, by order of HRH Sheikh Ali Baba (major shareholder), summarily executed.  Our new Marketing Department has rectified the situation and is aware of how Spellcheck works.

In other news, Air Maritim will be buying Donald Trump's 757 soon and deploying it on various cheap charter routes after all gold plated toilets have been removed and the cabin reconfigured for normal service.

That's an absolute crap excuse for not introducing it.

Thanks for that remark. It's planned but perhaps you have a way of finding about 8 extra hours per day for me and then it moves on more swiftly ;D

AirwaySim development is a side-gig for me so I prefer not to take extra stress of this, with all the other bad things happening in the world now. I do hire extra help from time to time (for example now we have an UI designer doing a mobile layout), but prefer to keep the coding itself in my own hands.

That's an absolute crap excuse for not introducing it. Naturally casual players will lose out. And a lot of the rules are not enforced properly anyway such as one airline hogging 90% of the slots on one route. Where's the competition in that? Anything that can help smaller or late starters is welcome, IMHO.
