Japan Aero Transit (JAT) today officially ushered in a new era of aviation excellence with the arrival of its first Airbus A321neo (Registration: JA401A). The delivery marks the official commencement of JAT's highly anticipated five-year comprehensive fleet modernization strategy, designed to optimize operational efficiency, reduce carbon footprint, and elevate the passenger experience to world-class standards.

The newly delivered A321neo (JA401A) serves as the pioneer of JAT's upcoming next-generation fleet. Following the completion of final operational proving flights and crew familiarization training, the aircraft will be formally deployed on commercial routes originating from Naha, Okinawa (OKA). JAT confirms that a total of 10 domestic-configuration A321neo aircraft will fully enter service by the end of 2015, significantly bolstering capacity across high-demand domestic corridors.

A Strategic Five-Year Transformation Roadmap

Over the next five years, JAT will execute a structured asset transition, systematically introducing five advanced aircraft models while phasing out legacy types—including the Airbus A320ceo, A321ceo, Bombardier CRJ900, and four-engine Airbus A340-600.

Key milestones of the fleet modernization initiative include:

• Domestic Fleet Backbone (2015–2017): A total of 60 Airbus A220-300ER aircraft will be phased into service. By 2017, the A220-300ER fleet will completely put into service, establishing a high-efficiency, passenger-centric core for domestic operations.
• Widebody Gateway Modernization (2016 onwards): Deliveries for a robust fleet of 55 Airbus A330-800 and A330-900 widebody aircraft are scheduled to commence in 2016, substituting legacy widebodies and eliminating fuel-intensive four-engine aircraft to enhance long-haul competitiveness.
• International Regional Expansion (2018): A sub-fleet of 12 international-configuration Airbus A321neoLR aircraft is slated for entry into service in 2018.
