Skyshuttle America: Fleet Renewal Status

Skyshuttle America Inc. Press and IR department
Pittsburgh, PA
November 6, 2013

Skyshuttle America has started to replace its Boeing 737 fleet with Airbus A320 familty aircraft, powered by IAE V2500 engines. The replacement will be done gradually over the coming years as the Boeing 737s are getting closer to their second large and expensive D-check. The first three examples have been purchased and will be introduced on routes where the oldest Boeing 737-400s have been operating. The aircraft features a dedicated Business Class cabin along with a larger Economy Class cabin behind the curtain. The aircraft will be fitted with an upgraded version of the Recaro Slimline seats that is as the ones currently in use in our Boeing 737 Classic cabin. They will feature a USB-A port for charging personal electronic devices and a free onboard entertainment portal accessible through Wifi.

This introduction follows the final retirement of the Embraer 145 family of aircraft that served us well from 1998-2013. These have been replaced by Embraer 170 aircraft which improved the overall efficiency of the operational and technical organization and increased the seating capacity and comfort.

We are expecting the final Boeing 737 to be retired around year 2020.
