St. Piran's Airways soon to retire all DC.8-72 and -73

St. Piran's Airways was set up in 1967 to serve the needs of a much neglected Saudi Arabian market back in those days. Soon after being established we managed to get our hands on some of the very few available Douglas DC.8s which at the time were the state-of-the-Art aircraft in the relatively new jet era.  As the years progressed into the 1970's were were buying our own brand new DC.8-62 and -63 aircraft giving us the range and capacity to serve Europe and the Far East. This superb aircraft was so well constructed that it was considered worthy of a significant re-engine programme and we too converted all 104 of our planes in the 1980's into the re-engined -72 and -73 models.  They have been our workhorses all these decades and we are soon to be retiring these grand old ladies now that our fleet of brand new Airbus A330 and A340 aircraft are able to take over their duties - and without any fuel-stops to our more distant destinations.

By January the 1st 1996 all flights will be have been taken over by the Airbus fleet so we have decided to offer free tickets to all Elite Alliance passengers, and half-price tickets for everyone else on any flights on our DC.8's for the remainder of 1995 - as a tribute to our much loved DC.8 Fleet. Simply buy your tickets as normal and claim the refunds after the flights.

So, it's with slightly heavy hearts that we now commence our farewell to these marvellous aircraft!
