First time in a GW outside of demo status and enjoying myself.

I have read a few threads on the O/D demand and how this has been calculated.  I understand it is part science and part art and ultimately the game has to provide demand otherwise most airports will flounder.  I recently expanded into FLL.  I find it almost comical the demand for flights to the Mountain West (I personally now fly to two airports in N. Dakota and my largest competitor flies to four (FOUR) different airports in Montana.  However, there is almost no demand for flights to the Caribbean although IRL both Spirit and jetBlue fly to all of these locations in A319/320s.  Even Southwest has increased it's presence at FLL as it's gateway to the Caribbean.  Additionally, I can't fly to real locations like ORH like jetBlue does IRL (I have family that has taken this flight).

FLL is a nice airport with great coverage up and down the east coast and a decent ability to fly to the major cities in the west.  I guess I was hoping the demand would match that a little better.

I’m not sure how Sami set up the demand system but there are a number of those real life connections that are not the same in game. It would be a huge undertaking to add that level of realism to the game I believe.

With your point on the Caribbean, that most likely comes down to seasonal demand. While season demand is not offered in AWS, any data set that Sami may be using to base his number off of might not differentiate that. So you would get a pure (pax per year/365) for demand.

Also i believe the demand figures are from way back in like 2006 or something, just something to keep in mind... (I honestly could be completely wrong, but that's the last i think i heard)

Thanks for the insight. Obviously South Florida has grown like crazy over the past two decades. Is supply/demand static or dynamic in that cities in the sun belt (ATL, CLT, MIA, DFW, FLL) will show growth?
