Pearl Air Plans Sunset on Lockheed 1011 Fleet
« on: November 21, 2020, 06:05:54 PM »
State-owned Pearl Air in Macau has reached an agreement with Russian manufacturer, Tupolev, to replace the existing Lockheed 1011 Fleet.

With the transition of Macau from Portuguese control to Chinese control, the Chinese and Russian governments have worked out an arrangement that will have the Russian aircraft manufacturer, Tupolev, replacing the current Lockheed 1011 fleet with Tupolev 204s. With their final Lockheed lease contracts expiring by the end of 2001, Pearl Air aims to not only have a full range of Tupolev replacements but an expanded set of flight offerings and new destinations aboard the brand new planes. Pearl Air also plans on expanding their Bombardier fleet to offer more short range 'domestic' travel to mainland China after the 1999.December.31st handover is completed.
