[-] Airline Age Scoring

Starting airlines early seems a distinct advantage.  Therefore, having the older airlines get extra scoring points seems to exacerbate this - it's easier to prevail if you start early, and you get extra scoring points for it too.

One option is to take the airline age out of the scoring stats.

But what about the reverse?  The youngest airline gets the top spot on age.  This will offset a little of the advantage in starting an airline earlier.

In an Epic 18 month game world... those airlines that survived from the start deserve the recognition honestly. Not just for outlasted their competition which can be tough enough... but to actually go over a year and a half and stay that committed is something.

Also, the score is a fun thing to look at, but overall its not the most important thing to worry about. Many airlines will never have a chance at the top spot even if they start on day 1. There's only a handful of bases that can get you there, so start in the wrong one... tough luck. Then its down to what others players decide to do. The best player can start in LAX or LHR etc and due to having a strong competent competitor they will always be handicapped. The score means little... just don't bk. 🙂

Sure, the score is just one metric and not the yardstick everyone chooses.

For those who are into using it, I also take the point of seeing out a long game!  It is a load of work, skill, perseverance.  I still think it would be harder to make it work if you come into the game later and reversing scoring age bonus would tilt things in a fairer direction imo.

No plans to currently change the scoring system.

The age metric is just one component of dozens, so a young airline can excel in some other stat an old airline can't.
