Fly Fiji Announces Retirement of DH-86/89 Fleet
« on: February 26, 2020, 04:28:58 AM »
Fly Fiji, the South Pacific's premier short-haul airline, today announces the retirement of its fleet of de Havilland DH.86 'Express' and DH.89 'Dragon Rapide' bi-planes. These venerable old planes have been with the airline since its founding in 1956, and enjoyed a storied history before, during and after the Second World War.

As the last operator of the DH.86/89 fleet type, Fly Fiji understands that this retirement signals the end of the aircraft type. As such, and for the sake of historic preservation, Fly Fiji will maintain in storage 2 of the planes, for use in exhibitions and traveling air shows.

The DH.86/89 fleet will be phased out between January and April, to be replaced with the de Havilland DH.104.
