In accordance with the directives of the Ministry of Aviation of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, Soviet Happy Airline announces today the ordering of two new four-engine turboprop airliners designed by the Ilushyn Design Bureau. The two Il-18A aircraft are expected to enter service in 1959, replacing obsolete DC-6 airliners currently being used for long-distance routes. These aircraft will provide the most modern speed, safety, and comfort for the traveling workers and peasants of the USSR.
The two aircraft will be named Sovetsky Soyuz and Sovetskaya Ukraina.
