I'm not sure how this is a same issue that's already been reporting as cargo shifting was working appropriately just a few weeks to a month ago in many cases. Specific examples being my FRA-China routes have all shifted as expected (actual = potential demand), but the set of routes I created to the US from FRA all have not shifted beyond the default demand that was already there. Something changed or borked between those two sets of routes that I opened, not something that happened in October.

The way I see what's happening right now is that the CBD system is a broken feature...

Yes, also.

Such "strong" effects as we experience right now weren't noticed before my report about SIN-LAX, early may. And in comparison, the "old" bug is an unimportant one (so to say).

No effect yet, but I'll monitor that.

Thanks Sami :)

Assume it will take several game months for the potential to start shifting to actual "as normal"?

Maybe not several, at least if RI is already at 100. I believe there are 3 checks every month. So with a little luck it should all be over by tomorrow morning.

I agree with Schro that something has snapped in the last 2 real weeks. Complex-Simple and complex-complex was broken anyway, but now lots of my simple-simple routes are not climbing as they did in the past. GW3..

Has a background shell task croaked?

Looking into various routes in other GWs this seems to be a pervasive issue across the board. GW2 seems to be hit hardest as it is the newest gameworld not all routes were stabilized for cargo before this bug cropped up.

I may be second guessing here but I think the issue started with the latest updates.. maybe the infrastructure level intro to AwS has inadvertently caused an issue with the CBD calculation..

Prior to that no major issues

I honestly think that's a fair assumption. It's the only major change that had been made between when I started flying cargo, which worked as I expected, and when I noticed the problem on my latest routes.

Could it also be that secondary airports can now grow and thus take control of demand that previously was claimed by a bigger airport.

Prior to the Infa updates, airports were mostly static. You can't compare prior GWs to what were seeing today because the Infa update changes the landscape (ie all airports allowed to grow).

It would be logical to conclude as GWs mature, airports will as well and you expect demand to shift accordingly. Or at least Not assume every route to end up 100/100 for 80yrs straight.

Talents,

If you had read the thread, you'll have seen that the scenarios where cargo are not shifting include those where is only one route open for given catchment areas on either side. The expected game behavior there should be actual demand increases to match potential (at least, that's how it has worked since the feature was introduced). I have done the research in my end from FRA - no other FRA catchment airports with routes to these places and these airport are so small that they do not intersect with any other airport.

Same, have seen across multiple GWs there are many route pairs with no other airports in the catchment that are not seeing HC grow to potential even though HC is being served.

My apologies; I was referencing frimp's response as a possible further cause. Though the latter of my post does not directly relate to the problem at hand.
