The new Game World #2 will open on Wednesday February 27th

The GW#2 is one of the four main and long airline sim scenarios at AirwaySim. This round of Game World #2 will start in 1955 and will run to the end of year 2035.

You can already pre-join this upcoming game world. Go to the Game Area and you will find this new game waiting for you there. With the pre-joining function you can reserve a spot in this new game and we will e-mail you to remind of the game world's opening.

The opening time of this game world will be at approx. 18.00 UTC on February 27th (next Wednesday). The first 24 hours of the game is static and the game clock will start to run at the standard pace on Thursday.

This game world follows the standard settings for long AirwaySim games:
  • Standard difficulty level

  • All airports, all aircraft models (including the "prototypes") and all features are included.

  • Additional base airports follow the standard rules, max 10 bases per airline, and the amount of planes based outside HQ will grow over time.

  • Alliances are available to be formed from the first day.

  • Game's speed is 30 minutes per day.

  • The scenario will have a maximum of 700 places at the start and the economic environment (passenger levels and amount of aircraft) have been adjusted related to this.

  • The aircraft selection is very interesting for this era as you'll have the choice to start with the almost unlimited supply of pre-war aircraft types like DC-3, or expand more slowly with the modern post-war types that are likely to be in more limited supply.

  • Fuel prices are random and may or may not follow the historical oil/jet fuel developments (or a combination of both where it follows the real history at some periods and is random at others).

Not at all a fan of the 700 player start and the hyper inflated demand that comes with it. This type of start completely ruins the first 50 years of the game.

I tend to understand what you mean, but at the same time, without the increased demand in the 50s, USSR would have been unplayable, even for one player.
When last GW#2 started, with increased demand, most routes from Moscow had ~30 demand. Add this to the range needed in USSR, and with your setting I can replace my DC-3 with a Heron. In Moscow.
And other places would probably have the same problem.

I could do without the 8,000 DC3/C46 start.

At least some “Coinnie” or Viscounts would be okay.

I can see this having a positive effect in a few locales, but a solid 80% of bases suffer. The old 200 played and +1 every game months works FAR better from a gameplay standpoint for early starts.
