No apologies! We serve with pride and responsibility.

At a press conference held at the airline’s brand new headquarters in central Oslo, CEO of NorgeFly Steve Flysalot talked about recent developments in the Norwegian aviation industry.

“We are all aware of the demise of Scandic Air in January following years of stiff competition in the Norwegian aviation industry. As upsetting as the situation was for the staff directly affected by the closure and for the passengers inconvenienced by the unannounced closure of a major airline, it finally removed a significant portion of the excess capacity from the domestic market which has been a problem for many years. As a result, passengers were easily re-accommodated on existing flights operated by NorgeFly and Norway Air Shuttle and the impact to passengers was slight and short lived.”

“I was however surprised to read comments from the CEO of Norway Air Shuttle, which itself appeared to be close to collapse before the closure or Scandic Air, in which he admitted the NAS business model was flawed and that the airline had been under great pressure as a result of flying routes that are, and I quote, “not the most profitable”. Yet, despite this admission, he expressed no desire to adapt the NAS business model and has instead begun the process of expansion to replace excess capacity in the market.”

“It beggars belief that the CEO of a major airline would admit that their business model is flawed and that they have experienced great pressures as a result, but then continue without change in the blind belief that things will change. To boast about the number of routes served from a single airport, regardless of the airline's sustainability is quite irresponsible.”

It is this drive to be profitable and efficient that has allowed to us to ride out the storms of the last 25 years and come out the other side strong and stable.”
