So, any thoughts for game #4 scenario?

Instead I'd love to have A380s in my fleet...

My fear is that if they have a scenario like that, all the players would do was to gun for the first A380 fleet.   A game revolving around one plane won't be too fun.  Its not like Sami is going to through in a Boeing HJ or something like that.

Well I'm hoping for two games, one that starts in the 70s and something in the late 80s/early90s thenI will gladly play both :)

There is the 747 - 800 to go against the A380

The plane hasn't even been delivered to anyone yet.    What game would you want to drop 300 million on a plane that will only fly a few years?  You'd have to extend the game until about 2020 in order to get the full use out of the 777,787,a380, and more...

EDIT:  Personally, I like flying shorter and more interesting routes.  I don't like the cattle car method of transport.  Additionally, the in-game setup doesn't take the airport size into account.  Remember, there are only so many airports that can handle an A380.  In this game, you could fly the Sydney Melbourne route and fill it up with like 800 people.  MOOOOOOO!

Well, That would make money - I like it! 8)

Not really.  The 744D is an awful plane unless you own it outright.
Sami has said in the past that passengers 'prefer' smaller planes.
What is the point in flying 1 less fuel efficient plane carrying 800 people versus 4 gas sipper planes carrying 200?  It turns out that the smaller planes always seem to win.

Filippo

after you carried the 800 people, you can do another route so you would make other money. Instead, with the smaller ones, you would take 4 times as much to do the route and it would leave no chance for another one.

Did Sami really say that people "prefer" smaller plains on smaller routes? If it is true, it would matter if you have competition on the route - but you can always lower the price.

I did an experiment when I had an airline out of Sydney.

The 744s performed horribly compared to the 737 series.
Since my 37s have a quicker turnaround, they could do more flights per day.  3 hours turn around on a 744d means it is sitting for at least 12 hours per day.

He did say, at one point, that pax did prefer smaller aircraft.

Slightly. I wanna say no more then 5% LF effect. Its not as bad as it was in beta 1 and 2 were using a larger aircraft vs small ment you'd lose money all the time.

There are alot of things to consider when choosing what type of aircraft to fly a route. Its not all black and white. Some work better then others.

You'll have to figure it out  :)

I get it.
I just use the big aircreaft on short routes when there is a "hole" in there schedule between their long-haul routes, just to make them fly a bit longer. Otherwise, The short routes are all for small aircrafts.

QuoteIm all for older games.  1960s on forward.  I don't need to play a game solely for the A380 that everyone is going to attempt to buy.

I concur. I do realize that most here prefer the jet age. But I hope than an occasional game with prop aircraft
will be featured.

I'm for really long game like 1965-2015 (possibly longer) with standard 25 minutes timing. I'm willing to paid more for it if it will be so long (maybe 15 credits)..
