Question about delivery slot and changing order

In GW2,  the L1049C just becoem available for order with deliveriesstarting from 1952 Aug. And then I have 2 outstanding order for the constellation that would be delivered in 1953, why I cannot change tthose orders into L1049C but can only change them to earlier models even thought the delivery date is after the initial L1049C delivery date?

To prevent mass cheating. Some clever players did make mass orders of models they did never intend to buy, and later changed them in big numbers. So the new rule is that you can change the order if the new model was available at the time of the order.

Well, not so "new" rule. It is a designed feature right from the start. 

But that is the idea, yes.
