[-] Market Share Calculation
« on: October 23, 2014, 07:15:56 PM »
Based on post 41 in the 1.3 change log:

https://www.airwaysim.com/forum/index.php/topic,26356.40.html

This route has me scratching my head:

https://www.airwaysim.com/game/Routes/Planning/ZBAA/ZHHH/?go=1

I have 10 properly spaced flights, nothing in maintenance, compared to his 3 flights all departing at 0345. The way I see it, his 3 flights should count as 1, and he should be getting a penalty for departing at 0345. I don't see why he would have more than 10-12% MS, let alone 25%? Even if my 10 flights are over the threshold for optimal number of flights (on a 400 pax a day route of 570nm, I would think 5-7 would be that optimal number?) I still should be able to maintain an 85% MS.

There are several examples like this at PEK.

His airline is called "The Chinese", that must count for something a China domestic flight  :)

Lol, yeah! Flight overlap ignored if the country is in the airline's name!  ;D

He has a very clear price advantage on all flights on that route (apart for one). One of those flights (he has 6, total both ways) is priced in similar manner than yours and it flies at 0% LF at the time I checked. All others are on VERY low prices (about one third of the competing airline's price).

So with a quick look (without going into full "debug & test" mode on this route pair), I would say it works just normally, and do not see any reason to change it since the general opinion seems to be that price has no effect at all .. But it does.

I see no ouch there. I am priced a few percent above default so if his flights are at -25% or more, the MS distribution makes sense.
