Do flight simulation games help (private) pilot training?

Hi guys,
This is a question for private and commercial pilots. I am wondering if it is useful to get a game (if yes, which one?) and virtually play with a Cessna before starting private pilot license training.

Thanks for replying.

Yes it is useful...

But dont use the build-in ATC. Try Vatsim ( http://vatsim.net or for your region http://www.vatsea.net/ but you are free to join any of the vatsim regions eg USA /EU etc.) there you have real people to talk to and they use the real phraseology like you will use in the real world.

Then you have two options for the sim:

http://www.prepar3d.com/ (take the Student Edition) or cheaper buy the FSX (Gold).

If you want accurate terrian you need FTX Global & Vector: http://fullterrain.com/
And mesh data if you like: http://www.fly2pilots.com

If you want an accurate Cessna. Try this 172, it the best 172 you can get: http://www.a2asimulations.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=9&products_id=56

Maybe you need a weatherengine too.. The normal sim weather is crap. try FS Global Real Weather (there is a demomode but it worth every penny)

If you have any more question just ask.
