[-] why did this happen?
« on: February 16, 2014, 01:02:54 PM »
GW#3 ... why was the MSN #50208 scrapped? ... I thought this shouldn't happen with young aircrafts (and I did buy every 88 on the UM in the last time, so there was no reason for scrapping it) ?? or was there a good and correct reason?

If a newish plane gets scrapped, odds are it came back from a bankruptcy in terrible condition, and so the broker scrapped it instead of paying a lot of money to try and fix it.

Yes, but this wasn't the case... it was operated by Owl Express, then returned from lease at good shape (I bought the 88s he owned at they were all at >98%) ... then it has been unavailable on the UM for 3 years (otherwise I would have bought it) and then it has been scrapped...

First of all, proper title for the report next time, and also a link to the plane, took me quite a while trying to find it.. (takes a lot of unnecessary time from me)

The plane has been most likely scrapped by the player himself. IF it is this one? https://www.airwaysim.com/game/Aircraft/View/History/35789

that's the plane... and the history is

delivered 2001
returned from lease 2010
scrapped 2013

... nothing about "bought by" ... so, I thought it points toward a bug

Did I scrap it?

I don't think so... you returned it from lease and 3 years later it got scrapped... I don't think you can do this  ;D

Ah, yes, first looked that he would have been the owner too, but no. Will check again

And it's scrapped because after it was returned it was on the used market for 5 times and nobody bought it, so it was deemed that it was no use to anyone (age is not a factor in that). So works like intended.

ok... but maybe the time how long it is on the market could be a bit longer... and maybe the seller could also try to lower the price... the 88 currently on the market in GW#3 for over 50M ... that's extremely expensive and if nobody takes it, the first action should be to lower the price (at least to a normal level) and not scrapping it... don't you think?

I think it should only be scrapped, if it was on the market for 5 times for a low price and you shouldn't count the high prices as "was on the market"

The time is already long, and the AI sellers already decrease the price while it's there, and when it's listed again the price is based on how many times it already has been listed .. (These aren't really new things, the used market has been tweaked A LOT during the years.)

so then you say, that I will see this MD-88 later again for a lower price, if nobody takes it now?

He said it was listed 5 times on the UM, each with a lower price. But no one took/wanted it during that time, hence the IA tower scrap the plane

If scrapped, then it's gone. Never seen again
