[ok] Recommended price vs. Calculated price.
« on: December 22, 2013, 03:43:05 AM »
The systems seems to be using now the Recommended price as a basis for aircraft listing, and restricting players from placing on sale with more realistic value.

Here is a scenario:

Acquisition price: 21 978 830 USD
Calculated price: 30 159 900 USD
Recommended price: 45 131 100 USD

I am trying to sell the aircraft at 26 500 000 USD

But the system is prohibiting me from doing that.

Error: The price you have entered is too low compared to the recommended price. Please try again.

I don't think the recommended price should be used as the basis of the allowed range of prices.

Yep, and the recommended price is just so BS

This is what I got for my 12 years old DC-10. The recommended price is even lower than the scrapping price. It's just ridiculous

And here are for my brand new A320, total price I paid for it was 38M, and I'm happy to sell it for 57M

B734, total price I paid for it was 28M, same happy for 37M

So, is this another way to prevent playing brokering (i.e. forcing us to sell at way too low, or way too high and scared off all customers)

Recommended price may need some fine tuning, and it may be fine for general listing, the range is wider (I have not tested it).

But when selling / leasing to a player within the alliance, the allowed price band is narrower, and it would be better if it was centered around the calculated price.

Yes, the prices need fine tuning. I just put an ATR-42 up for sale in DOTM. Recommended price was just shy of $14m, calculated value was $10,102,000, and the broker planes are all listed for about calculated value. The lowest I could go was about $9.5m where before I was listing my retired -42's for $7m.

Changed the price limits checker to compare the current value instead ..

Now it won't sell at the recommended price because it is too low compared to the aircraft value... Try a 727-100 in JA.

How about just dumping the price limiter for 'public' sales, but keeping it, based on calculated value, for private/inter-alliance sales? That should limit any P2P financial shenanigans and still let the market act more freely?

Didn't really have time now to check it closer, so rec.price is temporarily removed there, will be back soon.

by the way... I also don't like, that the "min alliance price allowed" is higher than the "recommended price"

and... I think when aircrafts are >= 16yrs, you should remove those prices or allow a much bigger range... I don't want to sell my fully payed MD-80s (17yrs) for 15M ... it's ok for me to get 6M ... and, they are so expensive in maintenance, that it wouldn't help anybody to have such a jet... I know that, I tryed it... it's hard to fly old planes
