[-] Operating Pre Tax Income
« on: November 22, 2013, 08:11:43 AM »
Couple of minor changes to accounting that would not be an overhaul, just slight fine-tuning:

New categories on P/L
- Prepaid Leases (in revenue, leased out aircraft)
- Operating Revenue = Revenue excluding sold aircraft and pre-paid leases
- (Total) Revenue - Existing unlabeled entry

- Prepaid Leases (in Expenses, leased aircraft)
- Operating expenses - Sum of all expenses excluding slot purchases, pre-paid leases, purchased aircraft)
- (Total) Expenses - Existing unlabeled category

- Principal changes (including new loans, principal repayments and pre-payments)

- Operating Pre Tax Income = Operating Revenue - Operating Expenses - Interest - Bank Fees

With this new figure, Operating Pre Tax Income, players would see how their airline is really doing.  The current figure fluctuates too wildly to be of any value.

I would add a total for each of non-Operating Revenue and non-Operating Expenses, just to sum those up.

Would also add a line in the Financing section for Extra Loan Payments beyond the monthly deduction, just for clarity, if the report code would be opened up for this request.

Good idea, it could even be organized that way:

Sold tickets (economy)
Sold tickets (business)
Sold tickets (first)
Aircraft lease income

Operating Revenue

Sold aircraft
Aircraft lease pre-payments

Non-Operating Revenue

Total Revenue

and the equivalent on the expense side
