Fleetgroup expansion

Hey all,

So, with the reading I've done throughout the forums I have been imprinted with the notion that the fewer fleetgroups you have the more profitability you are likely to achieve.  My airline has been doing well with the B733 (presently configured for 142pax, 132y+10c).  I had intended to continue with a single fleetgroup until I had 20-30 aircraft in my first, but there are a number of potential routes available for me which are listed with an estimated demand of between 60-80 pax/day.

Which is the better way to proceed: configure for less seats within my fleetgroup and slightly oversupply the demand, or expand to a second fleetgroup with more appropriate seating capacity?

Curse

Hello,

a second fleetgroup is no big deal at all. Problems occur after you add more and more fleetgroups. It completely depends on the time your game is and your airline size how many fleetgroups are ok.

For routes with 80-120 pax without competition I'd use the 733, too. If you have lots of smaller routes and can use about 20-30 smaller aircraft or more, you should go for a big prop like the ATR-72 or, if you need more range, Fokker 50.

Or buy CRJ200!  ;D

lets not try to make the beginners file bankruptcy, mmkay?   ::)

Curse

At least not the ones that don't compete with me. :P

Also, no CRJ200 available yet...

Heh, bankruptcy is not necessarily a new thing...

Decided to go with some BAe-146-200s to supplement my B733s.  Seems to be working thus far, we'll see how it goes.

Curse

Might work as long as there's no other major fuel spike.
