HS 748 runway issue
« on: July 26, 2012, 04:33:45 PM »
I have just set up at LCY which has a runway length of 1199. I have selected HS 748s which have a minimum requirement of 1160.
However I cannot fly these aircraft from this airport??????

Only certain aircraft are certified to fly into and out of London City airport due to constraints on the steep approach. These types are listed on the airport information page (and sourced from RL data). Therefore it is another constraint not allowing the HS748s instead of runway requirements.

I suggest you look at the Dash 7/8 or Fokker 50 as an alternate for your era.

Hope this explains everything  :)

There is a limitation at the airport. Only small planes can operate there. And there are a few exceptions for medium/large airplanes that exist in real life. To be able to operate from LCY, airplanes need to prove in certification that they're capable of performing 5.5% approaches. These airplanes are listed in the "Allowed aircraft list" --> those aircraft that aren't in the small category.
