[-] Bug with aircraft size limitations
« on: July 23, 2012, 01:12:01 PM »
Hey,

I just noticed, that some things seem to have gone wrong with the limitation for "small a/c on long route = bad" thingy...

Example route is LHR-ORD.

A Bristol Britannia, which (in its time) had been built for such routes is limited as "aircraft may be too small for this route", but a DC-6/B is not, even though being smaller than most versions of the Bristol Britannia.

Also a TU204, being nearly the same size as the B752 is limited as "aircraft may be too small for this route", while the 757 is not.

A32X/B737NG is always limited, which is at least something. But what I don't get, is why a same sized aircraft (or even a bigger one) is limited, while the other(s) is/are not.

cheers,
Jona L.

It is probably because the system now looks at the fleet type of aircraft, rather than at the aircraft itself.  When looking at the fleet type, it takes the average of models in the fleet...

So 752 may be smaler than X, but 757 fleet type (752 + 753) / 2 may be greater than X.

It looks up the game year too. So in early era a large prop should not get the warning.

Tu204 is not a longhauler either, perfectly correct.

Hmm... Does that mean that an aircraft may be just fine in 1995, but too small in 2019?

Also, does the fleet calculation use only aircraft released or all aircraft?

Not really, since the year limit starts to affect pre-1985 or something that way.
